Funny enough I've had a craving for evaporated milk for months now. Not had it for 40 years so I might not even like it now :)[/QUOTE]

Thats ok, I have 7 tins of evaporated milk in my cupboard if you want one!!:rotfl:

I always make my risotto that way! Never have any white wine open!

Haha I could say I never have any left when a bottle has been opened :rotfl:
I, not events, have the power to make me happy or unhappy today. I can choose which it shall be. Yesterday is dead, tomorrow hasn't arrived yet. I have just one day, today, and I'm going to be happy in it. :)

  • I learned this on one of the very early threads.

Budget for an extra day a week, ie if you got your housekeeping on Friday make sure you had enough in for Saturday and draw you money then, the next week make it a day later, and the same again the next week, eventually you end up with an extra weeks house-keeping every seven weeks.
So seven times a year you have a bonus. I found this of great help during hard times.

In fact I might start doing it again

I have a few items in my cupboards that are starting to annoy me they have been there that long. Like 4 jars of honey! I only use a teaspoon full now and then to make sticky bbq sausages or honey glazed gammon.
I'll have to look up some recipes to start using them.

I don't know if you like coffee, but my daughter found herself without sugar and used honey to sweeten her morning cup. She has never gone back.
Overprepare, then go with the flow.

Yep! I suppose I thought it would come in useful one day, this is the problem I have- `just in case` shopping. It has to stop!

One of my friend's here has his own bees and sells his honey. I don't like the stuff, but do always have some, and especially make sure when Mum comes to visit. Apparently it is really special, so she always takes some home with her.

Finished off the jar that I had this morning. Made chocolate tiffin to take to a friend who had just come out of hospital. Recipe called for syrup of which I had none, but the honey came to the rescue, and rich tea biscuits, but substituted digestives. Came out very well and was much appreciated by my sweet toothed friend!
  • How are your littles feeling MM? I know it's also hard on mommy when they are sick.

I am having to throw out about a cup of Asian soup as it is way past
it's prime. It started out as something else altogether, then 'transformed' into soup. I hate to waste food but I forgot to freeze it. It was hidden behind the butter tub. (Kicks self)

Tonight my OH is grilling sale steaks and I made up a dish to go with it. I saut!ed chopped onion mushrooms and garlic, the added a handful of chopped fresh spinach and some salt and red chili powder. Reds chili flakes would also work. Put the lid on and am steaming it all a bit with the small bit of liquid from the saute. It might need a little more to cook the spinach. I'm aiming for bright green.
Then I'll heat up the leftover roasted asparagus (will it ever all be eaten) and call it dinner.
Overprepare, then go with the flow.
