Hi all from me and hugs/handshakes for those having a rough time.
As some of you know, I have suffered from restless legs Syndrome for 40 years. At it's worst, about ten years ago, I could go for days at a time without sleep. Then a drug was licensed for it, ropinirole, which I have been on ever since. However, it is well known that after a certain time, it will stop working or make symptoms worse - usually after about five years. I have been on it for eight years and it is getting less and less effective, and I am seriously sleep deprived (although I have never got into a healthy sleep pattern).
Anyway, went to see the Doc, and had some blood tests (because RLS can be caused by an iron and/or magnesium deficiency), everything fine except a vitamin D deficiency. He has prescribed me vitamin D and melatonin.
I will need to have some different RLS drugs (there are more licensed now), but the hard bit is changing from one lot to the other.
However, the most important thing is, he has referred me to a neurologist at the Movement Disorder clinic at our local hospital and I have an appointment in July
I am expecting a result. Hope I am not disappointed!(AKA HRH_MUngo)

And just for giggles, I now have diarrhoea.
I was in London from Wed to Sun. It may hsve been something I ate or caught while trawling the charity shops.
I haven't got dressed yet and in spite of loperamide, I am still not 'right'.
I have to be clear for 48 hours before I go back to work which is starting to look like Monday. Don't know what I'm doing, but doing it anyway... :huh:0 -
I am mortified.
I have been given two lots of medication by the Doc -melatonin and vitamin D. When I read the instructions that comes with it, they both say 'recommended for the elderly'.
I am aghast. Is there room for 'elderly' in that fort of yours? I like choc chip cookies.(AKA HRH_MUngo)

Don't worry SDW. I have a foot condition that "is usually found in elderly patients" and I have orthotics and padding and gimp shoes as well.

Today! Having been pretty much twiddling my thumbs for the last week am now flipping frantic for the next few hours.
ETA: just been given some lovely flowers, chocolate, wine and a card from everyone. Also had some gifts from the girls I sit with yesterday. I'm very glad to be moving on, but I definitely will miss these people. My department (not based in this office) are......er, interesting (to be polite), but the people in this office are lovely (just a shame I didn't work with them as such).0 -
