While we're on the job theme:
Hate tenders. Hate re-wins. Hate all the effing politics around said tenders which mean we have to fanny around making things look good instead of getting on and doing what we're actually being paid to do.
And am particularly annoyed at team meetings which cover the same ground we covered in depth in the last three because people are like a dog with a bone and can't let things go despite any issues having being resolved months ago.
Right. That's out of my system now. And breathe. All shall be well, and all shall be well, and all manner of things shall be well.

Please insert as many mental expletives as possible in the following penguin. You might get halfway to how I am feeling. Talks about infant death, nothing in detail at all.
I have been working on Milliefleur's family tree with my american friend which Milliefleur has been excited about. We discovered she had a sister that died before 1 year and I had told WaSp not to mention that to her because it is deeply private and not something she may want to talk about. He did however tell BIL. BIL then proceeded to get drunk, walk into the crowded communal living area in her care home and yell at her in front of everyone for not telling anyone about her sister. He told her she can't keep family secrets and she has to tell him everything while she is still alive. Milliefleur called us in tears. I am livid. Lesson learned : If WaSP can't keep his trap shut, at the very least, he mustn't tell BIL.
Sorry to hear about Millefleur's upset WaS. Don't know what I'm doing, but doing it anyway... :huh:0 -
I bet everyone in the care home is spoiling millefleur rotten tonight.
Maybe WaSp could take some video footage of millefleur and friends for you. I still sometimes wish we had recordings of my grandparents, especially because my grandad had a very strong local accent and used occasional very local words. You don't realise how special something is at the time sometimes.
I don't know what BIL is like (ignoring his pillocky attitude) but maybe getting her to record some specific memories of him so that he can keep it on his mobile may help him in the future. He could get some comfort with being able to show the clips to his associates.
Anything that will potentially make him a little easier to deal with woulld be worth it.
Similarly if her other relatives come to see her in the home, maybe ask if he could record some of their conversation to play back to her.
Maybe you do all this anyway.:heartsmil When you find people who not only tolerate your quirks but celebrate them with glad cries of "Me too!" be sure to cherish them. Because these weirdos are your true family.0 -
BIL is a pillock and although his feelings may be valid it was a personal issue and if he felt that strongly he should have had the decency to talk to her in private about it.
Reflecting on yesterday i was talking to my supervisior and he said he could see my point, that it wasnt necesarliy about recruiting people with MH isssues but rather providing training for management in how t help people and also supporting those who need it so they don;t end up on long term sick. I'm going to have a think about it. I beleive there is a company scheme where you can submit suggestions, so once i;ve pieced together a coherent pitch i'm going to write in and make suggestions.
also off topic i found one of my friends in a newpaper today (that was surreal to say the least!) she was discussing how the pill caused her depression (and there was a study that back this up). This is a system account and does not represent a real person. Well done, MU! You are being so brave and are truly helping people like us be heard. I saw one of my old friends in a tv series once, of the most trashy reality shows you can imagine. I cringed all the way through it.
I have a little sympathy for BIL because I can understand he might feel time is running out to learn about past family members from his mum but that was completely the wrong way to go about it. Even I felt a little intrusive when I found a record of her sister because she had never mentioned it to any of her children. Therefore I purposely told WaSp to avoid mentioning it to her and leave the choice to talk about her sister up to Milliefleur. It turns out she was 11 when the girl died so does remember it and still finds it very upsetting, she did not need to be confronted with that in the middle of a packed day room. You know those days when you really wish your Gitdog wasn't quite so friendly and eager to meet people? Those mornings when you're running late for work and he decides to plonk himself at the feet of a group of new friends and refuse to leave them to come home with you. Then you discover they are Jehovah's Witnessess.........
(Not that I've got anything against JW but it was not a good time for any conversation at all, let alone with people who really really want to talk to you. Particularly when trying to haul a recalcitrant bull terrier in the opposite direction.:rotfl: )
Hope everyone is having a less bad day on the work front. Idiot dogs aside, I had a lovely sunny walk round the lake this morning, set me up for the day.All shall be well, and all shall be well, and all manner of things shall be well.

Haha, I think a morning chat with Gitdog would brighten anyone's day
It's beautiful and sunny here too (which is about pretty much the only thing today has going for it).
Am currently waiting (again) for a call from my boss. The 'early afternoon' call yesterday arrived at 5.10pm, by which point I was already on my way home. Have already had to send some emails today that he won't be happy about so, as always, am absolutely dreading speaking to him.0 -

It doesn't surprise me at all. There was one pill I had which meant that for 1 week in 4 I was pretty much suicidal. I stopped taking that one fairly quickly!!
Also, I found that I still had PMT with the Mirena, it was just less severe than without. I kind of wish I'd never had it taken out, I could really do with feeling a little more rational today than I am!! Fortunately I'm actually busy at work for a change so it's helping to keep my mind a little bit occupied.
WaS, that's awful about BIL and I think I ran out of mental expletives about half way through your post!!0
