As of this month i am 2 years self harm free. This time last year i got my butterfly tattoo to celebrate (i told myself if i ever made it to a year i'd get that tattoo). Planning on getting another to mark 2 years. This is longest i have gone without since age 12 when i started.

For me it was partly due to the butterfly project, the idea being you dra a butterfly where you usually self harm, if you the butterfly dies but if you don't it lives. sounds weird i know :p but it helped me many times. i decided to get a permanent version as it had helped me in the past. Also for me the butterfly is a symbol of transformation. From something ugly comes something beautiful, from despair comes hope. I've had many urges but when i get them i look at that tattoo. And i stop myself.

Oh my goodness. I have a muppet. Mr CP had a muppet style puppet made to look like me. :j

    That's awesome :D

MU, well done on two years. A friend has had a semi-colon and a heart done in her equivalent place, as a committment to stop, so she sees it and it makes her think again, or pick up the phone and call the Samaritins. Has only been a month or so for her and she has struggled, but so far it is working.

There's an interesting article here on how the parasite Toxoplasma gondii (the one that gives you toxoplasmosis) can alter behaviour and possibly personality and suicide tendencies in humans........

    https://blogs.scientificamerican.com/science-sushi/toxoplasmas-dark-side-the-link-between-parasite-and-suicide/

The parasite can only propagate itself in the gut of cats, so if it gets into a non-cat, it has an effect on that other host intended to steer it towards being eaten by a cat.
For example, if the parasite is in a rat, it makes the rat's brain less fearful of cats or even sexually aroused by the smell of a cat, and so is far more likely to be eaten by a cat!

The effects on humans are more subtle! :D

Did you know that Wasserschildkröte, translated literally, means water-shield-toad?
    Tortoise is Schildkröte, so shield-toad.

    Morning my lovelies,

Hugs and handshakes and squishes all round.

Well doggy walked, washing out. Managed to drop my laptop twice this morning. But still working. Hotwater bottle that I was using for my back leaked. So I am now wet through to my pants :rotfl:so sat on the sofa wrapped in fleece blanket.

Think I will stay in today. Action man not back until this evening :( so just me and doggy all day.

Hope everyone takes cares and have a nice day no matter what you do.

    Your
