MessedUp, it is tricky isn't it?
On the one hand we're taught that it is unhealthy to be overweight, and cajoled to exercise and eat healthily, with traffic lights and energy content on packaging.
Then society is castigated for denigrating overweight people, for there never being 'normal'-sized models, for 'fattist' language, and so magazine articles and programmes like This Morning try to redress the balance with larger size models and big ladies in bikinis.
It's a difficult conundrum!
The trouble is, fat doesn't mean unfit, either!
It's so difficult. We want people to be happy in their own skin, to be mentally ok about the way they look, but we also want them to be healthy and live long lives.
A balancing act that often tilts in the wrong direction.
It really doesn't help that at the same time as the Government stepped up its healthy lifestyle campaigns, exhorting manufacturers and ourselves to use less sugar in prepared products and cooking, the TV started to broadcast "The Great British Bake-Off". I remember being astounded at the time!
I haven't watched it once. I daren't.
I suppose what This Morning tried to do was to reassure people that what does really matter is who they are as a Person, and to reduce the lack of confidence/self esteem that might come with being overweight, at the same as encouraging a healthy lifestyle. So far from applauding obesity, maybe their intention was to promote good mental health?
Whitewing. Whadderya mean, had I been drinking? Was I incoherent? No!
Was I talking nonsense? Probably, but then so did Edward Lear! :rotfl:
However, on a serious note, I'm interested in what you meant when you said you 'bulldoze' people and how this relates to autism. Are you able to elaborate? :A(I just lurve spiders!)

MU, I agree with you as well.
I'm currently annoyed with myself as while sorting out clothes for my holiday I realised that my gradual weight gain (and it is so gradual, perhaps 1lb/month over a year) means I now fit in almost none of my trousers, so had to go out and buy some in the next waist size up. I've been saying that would happen if I didn't lose weight and now it has :mad:Proud member of the wokerati, though I don't eat tofu.Home is where my books are.Solar PV 5.2kWp system, SE facing, >1% shading, installed March 2019.Mortgage free July 20230 -

Exciting!
Don't forget that you have to tell someone you're not a turtle! :rotfl:
Code , can you remind me what the Spanish for "I am a not a turtle" is? And how to pronounce it? I don't know Spanish pronunciation.

Leading the cheerleading brigade for melly. We'll do the confidence from here on your behalf - deep breath, big girl pants, off you go.
Tonight's culture is Shakespeare. Forgotten which one, but a comedy. Possibly a bad choice for midweek as today is hectic and there is a strong possibility of some snoring going on by the interval. All shall be well, and all shall be well, and all manner of things shall be well.
Pedant alert - it's could have, not could of.0 -

Hahahaha!
This one's for Ono!
I was wondering whether a male turtle in Italian would be un tartarugo.
Apparently, it's, counter-intuitively, una tartaruga maschio!
