We aren't sure what is happening and aren't sure Milliefleur knows either. BIL has asked social services for a care home because he says carers won't be enough, but then this is purely his view. Her social worker is apparently dealing with things, all we know is BIL contacted her and said he couldn't cope so Milliefleur is in hospital for the time being. He was very, very defensive on the phone and just said he was at his wits end.

Oh WaS, what a PITA that guy is! At least MF is somewhere she's being taken care of, although I'm sure it wouldn't be her first choice.

If Millefleure has capacity then she has the right to make what others may consider to be an unwise decision. Including returning home, with as much support as social services are able to offer. If this means telling BIL he is no longer a carer and getting paid care and assistive technology in instead, then so be it.
If she does not have capacity then there is a legal obligation to look at the lesser restrictive options first. Residential care is the most restrictive option and if she doesn't want it should only happen when all other options have been ruled out.
I would suggest discounting any information from BIL as being unreliable.
Has Millefleure ever made a power of attorney?
If assessments are being carried out then she should also qualify for a care act advocate to help her put forward her point of view, if there isn't anyone able to help her to actively participate in the process. BIL has a conflict of interest, and it may be difficult for WaSP, so it might be worth looking into this a little more if she needs someone on her side just for her.

Thank you, we are just totally at a loss right now because BIL would hardly discuss it. She certainly does have capacity, her mind is very clear although we do think she was depressed after her hip operation. I am unsure whether BIL had Power of Attorney or if he wants it if he does, he told WaSp it's time for him to have a life now. From what we can gather he insisted she was taken into hospital straight away because he could no longer cope for another day, we only found out today because WaSp has been trying to call for four days and not getting an answer. He finally rang BIL and he told him it happened days ago, who knows when BIL was going to tell us?

We have a lot of questions that we are not sure even Milliefleur can answer.

WAS I'm so sorry to hear about MF, how horrid of BIL to not even tell you personally until days after!! :mad::mad:

I hope MF is as OK as can be after him deciding she had to go into hospital so he could cope. ((((((((((HUGS))))))))))))

WaS, regarding the Planet Earth programme, the sloth bit is right at the beginning, and it is fine for you to watch, up to 20 minutes in.



DO NOT WATCH FROM 20mins to 27mins!!

However, from 27mins to 33 mins is a lovely piece about albatrosses, which is ok for you to watch.

From 33mins onwards, the programme is littered with sad bits, several, so I would recommend you stop watching after the albatrosses, at 33mins.
