(((WaS))) it does sound like the psychological side of it all is now catching up with her, and she's feeling low about the physical changes. Not what you and WaSp need to be dealing with though!

Code - good luck, you'll be awesome... because you are!

Am going to Ireland this afternoon and have three days of various work stuff to do. Also a lot of travelling (as visiting both Northern Ireland and RoI). I spent ages sorting it all out and checking it was all ok with the people I'm seeing over there. The manager has just called me (two hours before I set off) to suggest a different hotel and a completely different method of transport. Everything's been booked for weeks.

    Like I wasn't stressed enough.

ETA: just checked and the hotel already booked is non-refundable, so that's totally screwed things up.

That's absurd. They should realise how ridiculous they are being, or their superior should tell them not to be so silly.

I couldn't manage anyone (the very thought, me telling other people what to do :rotfl: ), but I think I might do a better job than this person!

  • Argh, what a nightmare Tea and what a nightmare manager! Can you point out that you cant get refunds? He is being totally unreasonable to change plans at this stage.

Yes, I am sure you are right, tea. The doctors told us that after a major operation at her age that it would take a while for her to recover. Physically she is doing very well even though she says she isn't, mentally not so much. She is supposed to go for two 10 minute walks a day to strengthen her hip but she won't even sit in a chair by her bed.

I am wondering whether to mention it to my bubbly bulldozer if things don't change in a couple of weeks as she liaises with Milliefleur's social worker. At her age it would be all too easy to give up on life and she normally loves her clubs and seeing her friends, for the past two weeks she has completely isolated herself, even refusing to answer phone calls. She also never guilt-trips WaSp, especially over me, in 25 years she has never done this. We are worried about her.

I think mentioning it to her is a good idea WaS, especially as she's in touch with milliefleur's social worker.

WaS, it can't hurt to mention it to BB. Hopefully Millefleur will start to feel better soon anyway but it might be helpful for her social worker to know how things are at the moment.

Tea, I hope your manager's realised what an idiot they're being and that you can't just change hotels/plans at the last minute.

    Hi All

Hope you've all had a good weekend

Just a quick update as someone asked me to keep in touch regarding my ex partner who did the whole like an old picture on Facebook... anyway after I finally got the courage to open her reply, she wants to meet for coffee :)

  • Awww, Oakdene! I am so happy for you! Hopefully this is a first step to getting your best friend back. Please let us know how it goes. That made my day!

Thank you, I am not silly enough to even get my hopes up for anything more than a coffee but I am happy nonetheless

Hi, I am a mature student and a carer. I have travelled from up north to London to enrole on my degree - I left mum in the carer of a neighbour.

SLC granted me 10500 maintenance for the year and I should get the first payment next week. All the banks have refused to open a student account for me due to my poor financial record.
I came to London 6 days ago to look for suitable accommodation for mum and me. I realise now that the first SLC payment will not cover the set up of a one bedroom flat.
After living in my car for 6 days and managing mums care remotely through busy friends, I am starting to lose that initial excitement for my future studies. The lack of privacy and cleaning facilities have pushed into an uneasy head space that I fear I will not be able to escape easily.
I am prepared to listen and act on any constructive advice that doesn't compromise my place on this degree. I cast my fears and hopes into the universe with an open mind and a strong heart.
    Kind Regards
