It's interesting, because I usually prefer less swarthy, less (body)-hairy men, with lighter hair, but there's just something about him....probably his eyes. I'm a sucker for men with kind and/or twinkly eyes!(I just lurve spiders!)

In MSE news I notice my credit score has dropped slightly. This is because it is now turning into what is called a thin file which means I have little record of loans or credit cards. I do use a cashback credit card but pay it off in full every month. The site said consider taking out a bank loan to put myself back on creditors radars. So I have to take out a bank loan I don't need and pay extra interest on it just to improve my credit score. Makes total sense. :rotfl:Until one has loved an animal a part of one's soul remains unawakened - Anatole France

Jeez! I dread to think what mine's like, then! Since my mortgage ended, and I started paying the card off every month, I've had no other loans at all!
Isn't it absolutely ridiculous that you might have to start worrying about NOT having any debts? :rotfl:
On another note, I found this lovely pic on another thread, to illustrate all our lovely hoverers!
Oh, just thought! I have bought a couple of things recently from two different sources on account, not on a card, and I paid them as soon as the balance statements came in, so that might help my profile.(I just lurve spiders!)

Awww, what a lovely pic! Hello hummingbirds!
The site did mention having a mortgage helps because then creditors are aware of you. Because I rent and don't have debt there is only a record of me through my one credit card and my bank account. I am on the Electoral Register and everything else they suggest, it's purely because I haven't taken out any credit for years. What a totally ridiculous situation, I don't want more debt, it took me 5 years to clear the last lot!Until one has loved an animal a part of one's soul remains unawakened - Anatole France

Could you post the question onto a credit /debt thread, and see if anyone can suggest anything! There may be a way round it that we can't think of.(I just lurve spiders!)

That's an idea, Pyxis. I am not about to take out anymore loans because I don't need them and cannot afford the interest anyway. I need to keep my credit score as high as possible because I rent and letting agents check that before they agree to a tenancy. Even Virgin Media checked it before they allowed me broadband. Don't get me wrong, it is still a decent number but it is slowly dropping and will continue to do so the further time moves away from my last loan and credit card application. I wonder if getting another credit card would help? I might brave another board and ask.Until one has loved an animal a part of one's soul remains unawakened - Anatole France

If you can be disciplined. you could take out a credit card, use it for your online shopping that you'd be doing anyway, and pay it off every month.
I use mine for food shopping and petrol that I'd be spending anyway - it's also a cashback card so I get a bit extra. If you're sure you won't overspend and keep a low limit to avoid temptation that might work. All shall be well, and all shall be well, and all manner of things shall be well.

Awww, look at the little ghostie! That's adorable!
I do that, elsien. I have a cashback card like you, that I pay off every month and get a little bit of money in return for using it. It helps quite a bit but not enough. A lot of the problem is I don't work and don't have a mortgage, they can really increase the score. I have no problem being disciplined with credit (I have a £8500 limit but never spend more on it than £400 a month) but I need to find a way to remind lenders I exist without having to pay interest to do so.
Oh, it turns out I have another credit card already that I have never used, I totally forgot it existed. I only got it so that I could get a free Baby Oleg Meerkat toy. Perhaps if I start using that and paying it off, too? I may get confused!Until one has loved an animal a part of one's soul remains unawakened - Anatole France

I'm sure I've read on here though that the credit scores in and of themselves are meaningless - it's about individual criteria so if you can show you are paying off any credit without missing payments that's the important bit. That was my understanding, anyway.
Might be worth sticking a question on the housing bit of the board, if rent checks are your main concern. All shall be well, and all shall be well, and all manner of things shall be well.
