I always leave my music lessons with very good intentions of practicing every day. Then I manage 2 (3 if I'm lucky) quick sessions over the next 2 weeks, have a frantic last minute cram before the next lesson, then come out full of good intentions again :rotfl:.

I'm very lucky because my teacher is absolutely lovely. She's very good at providing a the right balance between challenging and encouraging. She fully appreciates that sometimes I end up working away a lot and barely glance at the music between lessons. Sometimes we both end up practically hysterical at how bad it's going :rotfl:..... not in a mean way - she always says I'm too hard on myself, but when your mind goes totally blank and you can't play C major after nearly 30 years, it IS funny!

Wouldn't it be terrible if there was some sort of problem with the phone line and they got cut off.
  • I'd be fuming Lambyr! I probably would say something like "so is the thing I've got planned not important then?" and "you can't just give us one day notice and expect us to drop everything." I wouldn't be able to help myself! I'm glad you're standing your ground.

Sorry to hear of your plumbing problems WaS, but Ben sounds nice though! :)

I think what's annoying me is the fact that to them whatever it is I have planned is so pointless I could just sack it off on a whim. What if I had tickets to something? That's the thing - they haven't actually asked what my plans are... they've just assumed it's something that could easily be blown off.

    I know!

If they want to see your mum so much, why don't they pick her up and take her home with them for the weekend, at the same time giving you some respite time!

There you go! Problem solved! :D:D:D

    I'm a genius! :D

By the way, thanks for explanation re. pPixabay, and I apologise to them! :D

As does Ben (we need a thread puppy!!) .

Erm, excuse me. I think you'll find we may already have a somewhat overgrown one of those.

  • Hahahaha! We could never forget Gitdog!

So glad you have your weekend, Lambyr. October sounds better as long as they give a decent amount of notice. They sound a little selfish to say the least!

Well, the good news is that the leak is fixed. The bad news is that we have almost no water pressure now. Water out of the tap is a dribble, there isn't enough pressure for the shower and the toilet cistern is taking 90 minutes to fill. Argh! Ben is coming back tomorrow to have a look, he said it could be something as simple as an airlock in a pipe.

Why has she been arrested? I mean I know why but I still don't really get how genuinely suicidal people can be described as 'selfish' when I maintain if they got the help they needed more promptly and for longer then these sorts of incidents would not cause so many issues.

'Sorry guys and girls, someone threatening to jump off bridge': Traffic cop's bizarre SELFIE next to M5 after 'suicidal' woman caused 19-mile tailbacks (so why did it take so long to arrest her?)

I hope the woman gets some proper help from the police and the mental help support teams rather than just a slap on the wrist or whatever they do to nuisances.

I am also relieved that it wasn't a GCSE results student.

I am so very angry. When the Tories got back in, their manifesto included bringing MH services' funding and accessibility up to the level of physical illlnesses.

But it's all GOT WORSE!

Lambyr, I LOVE Disturbed! One of my favourite bands. I still have their demo cassette somewhere they were giving out for free at a Marilyn Manson gig they were supporting.

Bearded One had an interview today for a job he will love, only problem is it will be part time. I also have an interview tomorrow for a part time job. Not sure how we will manage for money if we both get them, but we will be an awful lot happier.

Sorry Elsien, I forgot to reply. LS is fine thankyou, still learning to cope with Escapette now she is crawling. He likes to give her his toys but will go off and hide when she gets too much for him. He has matured ever so slightly!
