Aw poor gitdog, I think he's probably just too advanced for the rest of the group and doesn't want them to feel bad :D

One turned up, one didn't. The one that did had a HUGE lunch break, although by that point I was pretty much past caring. Turns out a purely caffeine and codeine day doesn't actually help.... who knew?!

Think the turnout might be even worse tomorrow as that's the group I was worried about beforehand.... I thought today's would be ok! Which just shows what I know.... which is clearly nothing.

Am just focusing on the fact that however badly tomorrow goes, at least it's Friday and I get to go home. Having been stuck in a travelodge in a motorway services for two days I will be delirious with excitement when I finally get to see my house.... and my beautiful cat.

I quite like the odd night in a hotel. I can relax and read a book without having all the clutter and dirty dishes looking at me and making me feel like I should be doing something.

Hope tomorrow defies expectations and everyone turns up.

  • Coming home is always a good feeling IMO, no matter why you've been away. Even when I came back from Rome earlier this year which had been a really good holiday, I was so pleased to get in my front door.

Why is it that when you're waiting in for someone (BT engineer in this case) that will arrive in an "AM" slot, which is in fact 8am to 1pm, you realise at 7.55am that you don't have any milk for a cup of tea and no time to get to the shop to buy some? Boooo! :rotfl:

I thought there was some kind of law against not being able to provide an engineer a cup of tea :D

Leave a note on the door saying you'll be back in 5mins, for a cup of tea I'm sure they'll understand.

Tea - I hope today goes well. At least people being inconsiderate numpties means you're past caring which must help to stop you feeling quite so nervous.

There is definitely something lovely about coming home, even if you've been having a fantastic time away there's nothing quite like your own bed and home comforts.

IzHe was out with an old colleague last night so I took advantage of the flat being empty and went on a major clean up. 6 hours later I was slightly exhausted but the entire place now gleams, which makes me very happy. It must look good because when he finally got home even my very-worse-for-wear boyfriend, who doesn't notice dirt or mess until it reaches serious health-hazard stage, commented on how lovely it was.

Wow, 6 hours of cleaning Iz!! That is very impressive.

How sad is this... I usually have a v exciting Friday night housework session as I really like waking up on a Saturday to a clean-ish house. Am genuinely disappointed that I'll be back late this evening and won't get the chance! I really need to do some proper spring-cleaning though. The basics get done but it's a long term since I cleaned behind anything :rotfl:.

    Did you get milk ono??

No milk, had a call from the engineer at 1130 who thought he was doing a fault investigation, read the notes (many pages - this has been going on a long time) and realised it needs a new pole, which is what I was expecting to happen today.

Said he needed to speak to management and call me back. Still waiting, so I can't go out or even work in the back garden :(

I'm not sure if was impressive or an indication of how little housework I've done recently...

I can fully understand being disappointed at not having your normal Friday cleaning routine. The fact that I'm doing overtime on Saturday, which is when I would normally have a tidy-up, is probably what made me so intent on getting everything done last night.

Ono, that's rubbish. It's not fair that they can leave you for that long not being able to do anything or go anywhere. If they ever do call you back, ask them to pick you up a pint of milk on their way round :D

It's the weekend, and for once I have finished work on time.

Tomorrow I am taking Gitdog to a bull terrier gathering and picnic. What could possibly go wrong? :rotfl:
