Whitewing, just think. It was jolly lucky for your relative that they were with you when they had the stroke.

It could have been much worse if they'd been on their own somewhere, given that the best outcome for a stroke depends on early treatment. Well done you, but I'm sure you are exhausted.

Treat day in order, methinks! :)

    Hello!

Just checking in before my productivity blockers kick in at 12:30 and ban the Internet... well some of it.

WW - So sorry to hear your relative had a stroke but it was a good thing you were there. I hope the prognosis is good.

And bubbles could actually be quite fun!

Izadora - I do cook but we're running a bit low on, well, everything. I normally do an online grocery shop but there's the £40 minimum order value now so I'm gonna have to chance going to Tesco in person and picking up the basics which will suffice until I get some more money in.

It's just a nuisance because due to my rejiggery, next weekend I'm (by my standards) flush. Still once this week or two is over, I can start putting away a small amount each week and then everything will be sorted.

And yes, tea, I do think E may be a keeper. :o

I know what you mean about songs you've been playing getting stuck in your head. I was listening to some music the other day, then ended up unable to stop singing a certain song by The Divinyls... :o :rotfl:
She would always like to say,
Why change the past when you can own this day?

Lambyr-Its a pain...but thats why im currently buying a travel pass that covers bus, tram train so i have backup options if one route doesn;t work :o Its been worse since xmas when i had a very very bad panic attack (not helped by people staring, pointing and making rude comments, oh and shoving me out of their way  )

Sorry you've had a downer to the evening, its crap when you think you have verything sorted then something crops up and bites you in the bum! That happened to me the other month, i got my dates ixed up when money was going in and was short on rent, and Swain thankfully bailed me out. :o Aww bless E for being a good un and sorting it out for you. Trying to think of cheap ideas for you.....are their any films she likes? For example if she liked harry potter, i'd do the place up with candles and have a harry potter movie marathon :p Or if she likes sweet treats maybe baker her a thank you cake? :) If you can suggest things she likes we might be able to come up with some ideas

Izadora-work were thankfully fine about me being off, dont think its going any further so thats one less worry off my mind :)

WW-so sorry to hear about your realtive, that must have been quite a shock for you both, and stressful too. *gentle hugs* i hope your realtive recovers well and that you look after yourself too

tea- i'm not feeling too bad actually. had the worst nights sleep but my mood seems better. I had the whole shop cleaned (bar mopping the floor) by 9pm when i left so i'm pretty happy with that! I seem to be back to normal workwise now the fog has lifted.

Random question for JM (or anyone else)... do you ever find you get a piece of music you've been playing so totally stuck in your head that it just won't go?! I'm used to general earworms from the radio etc, but for some reason the fact that it's something I've been playing makes it worse, it feels more ingrained in some way! I clearly need a lie down...... chance would be a fine thing!

Absolutely! Musicians call this an .... ummm I think it's 'ohrwurm' - much more descriptive than earworm in German! There is lots of fascinating stuff about it and other 'aural hallucinations' (in inverted commas cos not really an hallucination) in the book 'Musicophilia' by Oliver Sachs*. Some people hear whole symphony orchestras, or pop groups, apparently!!!! (I am also halfway through his last book, Hallucinations - I think I've read everything he ever wrote!)

*As with hearing voices, not actually diagnostic of any mental illness, and even more common! I think all musicians have ohrwurms (ohrwurmen?)

My boss is in the office today and I'm supposed to be having my annual appraisal. Generally when we have anything planned he spends the entire day with other people and I get two minutes, if that. We were supposed to meet at 10am.... still waiting.

Would appreciate calming thoughts sent my way... am worried that if I do actually get to the point where we sit down and he asks me how it's all going I may something I could regret!

When/if he gets round to doing your appraisal remember that it's an opportunity for you to bring up anything which you think needs improving as well and point out that people not sticking to scheduled meeting times has a big impact on everyone else.

I'm trying to remember when I last had an appraisal and reckon it must be about ten years!!!

    *Sending calming thoughts to tea*

Might need some of those myself too, am in the middle of an email conversation where I referred to the content of a system auto-generated email that the other person had been sent. They claimed not to have received it, but they initiated the exchange by replying to that very email  and I can see it at the bottom of every email in the exchange (with an increasing amount of indentation from being quoted each time) ....

I'm so sick of people claiming not to have received emails that I attach the original copy of their response when I reply. If you missed it/forgot to do something with it, that's fine. Just don't pretend you didn't get the mail!!

Thanks for the thoughts guys, I needed them!

First part of the meeting has actually gone ok to be fair, and he's said nice things so that's always good! Then we were talking about workloads, hours, etc. (he does a ridiculous amount of hours and travelling), and he mentioned that his wife is pregnant. Have been so much better with announcements etc lately but oh my, for some reason that one was a real punch in the stomach. Fortunately we're now having a lunch break so I can hide in the toilets for a minute until I've composed myself.

Meh.... does this ever get any easier??

    (((( Tea ))))

Is this one particularly bad because you don't know his wife so there's no happiness for her to temper the gut-wrenching jealousy?
