Windows 10..........
I've been looking for a recon laptop for my GF to use, there was a laptop at work that I thought might be ideal, so I decided to check out it's specs. Simple I thought, just right click on "my computer" and read off the specs.......... But NOOOOOOoooOOooooo, it's running Windows 8 and it took me the best part of 30 minutes to figure out what I was doing wasn't going to work (I had to Google search how to get the proper control panel!!!!) I had install a program to make it look like Win7 and then after another 15 minutes I FINALLY found the information I wanted!!!!
Windows 10? Barge pole.“I may not agree with you, but I will defend to the death your right to make an a** of yourself.”

I'm really not sure how you couldn't find the information, under Windows 8 the system will show the main specs when you right click computer. Or you can right click the taskbar and bring up task manager which has detailed information on exactly what clock speed the processor is running at, how many sockets, cores, threads etc, what slots of ram are used, the speed and so forth. If you don't have the control panel icon you can right click in the start menu area to bring up the power users shortcuts (which includes control panel) or press start and type control panel. Anything you're missing can be found this way exactly the same as Win7 although I find the search in Windows 8 is much more reliable.
I genuinely have no idea how any of that could take someone nearly an hour particularly as you access the device information the same way as in Windows 7 except there's more ways to do it, I find the W8 task manager and the power user shortcuts very useful improvements over Windows 7. I guess I'm not crippled by the Windows 8 hysteria some people put themselves under and have to post nonsense about it online.

I thought this article was interesting:
"How Microsoft copied malware techniques to make Get Windows 10 the world's PC pest"
http://www.theregister.co.uk/2016/03/17/microsoft_windows_10_upgrade_gwx_vs_humanity/
Reading that article it sounds ridiculous but it's all true and what's worse is that while most malware can be removed by tools like malwarebytres, the Win10 nagware needs its own custom third party tool.

Just so everyone knows there is no need to install third party software to stop any mention of windows 10 on your computer. You simply have to hide three particular updates and it will never download anything to do with it. I did this on a computer that I have that is always on but it does what it needs to do without any user input, so no point in updating it.
But for everyday computers I see no reason not to update to it, as long as all the required drivers are available. But generally people are resistant to change so that's why Microsoft are forcing it on people!. The reason they want all computers to run it is because it's easier for them to just update one operating system. They have mentioned that this will be the last windows and all updates from now on will just be windows 10 updates. So this means all computers will run the latest version, so that's probably why they are being so "pushy" because for this "vision" to become reality all computers will need to run it!.0 -

make sense for all hardware/software manufacturers and users to be dealing with less operating systems
i also think microsoft finally realised that they can't keep charging £100+ for the latest operating system when others don't charge for upgrades"The Holy Writ of Gloucester Rugby Club demands: first, that the forwards shall win the ball; second, that the forwards shall keep the ball; and third, the backs shall buy the beer." - Doug Ibbotson0 -
That doesn't mean every device is compatible with Windows 10 (the nc10 is a pretty simple machine) - I have a vaios that use a proprietary graphics card switching system which isn't supported past windows 7, the machine didn't work at all under Windows 8 or newer. Despite that, it stills gets the windows 10 nagware at least until I installed software to block it. At the very least the software should be doing a compatibility check before prompting people to upgrade to Windows 10 as others won't be aware their machine is incompatible until they run the ill fated upgrade.
what happened when you tried win10?"The Holy Writ of Gloucester Rugby Club demands: first, that the forwards shall win the ball; second, that the forwards shall keep the ball; and third, the backs shall buy the beer." - Doug Ibbotson0 -
You can take one good thing from this event, your computer will now have a Windows 10 licence. So you can upgrade to Windows 10 at your convenience now, even after 29 July, as your computer has been given a digital entitlement by Microsoft."Whenever you find yourself on the side of the majority, it's time to pause and reflect." - Mark Twain0
