Could you be more specific please. In what ways is it 'night and day' above Windows 7?
it will probably be supported for 5 years longer than win7"The Holy Writ of Gloucester Rugby Club demands: first, that the forwards shall win the ball; second, that the forwards shall keep the ball; and third, the backs shall buy the beer." - Doug Ibbotson0 -

The Win 10 forced 'upgrade' comes with keyloggers / spyware as default. Dodgy AV and control over what software you use, yes I'm going elsewhere. MS no longer has the monopoly.0

It's an OS that Microsoft are being extremely forceful to get people to upgrade to the degree it's functionally the same as malware except the Windows nag screens are more difficult to remove, I shouldn't need additional third party software installed to block that. I have no need or interest in upgrading my Windows 8.1 systems to Windows 10 as there's little or no benefit and Windows 10 took several steps backwards particularly for hybrid and touch based systems.
Furthermore, the nag system makes no checks to ensure the hardware is actually compatible with Windows 10 and will still prompt entirely incompatible machines to upgrade to Windows 10.

I was very much in the 'I see no need to upgrade my Windows 7 machine to Windows 10' camp until I did so. Having used Windows 10 for a month now I cannot understand why there is so much opposition to it. I have come to rather like it, and with the use of Classic Shell not that much different to what W7 was. I do feel that much of the anti-W10 paranoia is way OTT.0

People don't want it forced down their throat. I think it looks slick and works well on compatible devices. I know people that have had really bad experiences with the upgrade going wrong and I won't be upgrading any of my Win7 laptops until I can afford to devote a whole weekend to the process (that will be about 11 years away, when my youngest will be of university age).
I have real trust issues with Microsoft as well and I think paranoia is entirely justifiable, even if I put up with them for a simple (I wish) life.0 -
Please give it a chance before going back.0

You would 'get it' if you had an very expensive film/slide scanner with does not have nor is ever likely to have Win 10 drivers as it is out of production0 -

I'm sure your children will appreciate living in a house running on obsolescent technology, so they can go to university clutching their more than a decade out of date laptops.0
