Hi
hope some knowledgeable person can help me...
Turned on computer this morning to be told that it's updating Windows.
I let it run thinking that it was just installing latest updates only to find when it had eventually finished that I now had Windows 10 - something I didn't want but now had.
As my 12yr old daughter was the last one on the computer last night I can only think that she said yes to it - she has dyslexia so her reading skills aren't what they should be for her age.
Thinking that I knew what I was doing I went into the uninstall program option and backed out 2 Windows updates dated today...
But then my other half told me I'don't made it worse by doing this...?
Can anyone who knows much more about it than me please point me in the right direction
Cheers Gail

You should never call somebody else a nerd or geek because everybody (even YOU !!!) is an
"anorak" about something whether it's trains, computers, football, shoes or celebs

Start > Settings > Update & security, and then select Recovery in the left of the window. Choose the "Go back to Windows 7" option.0

Once you have Windows 10 uninstalled, I'd strongly suggest password protecting your administrator account and setting up a standard account for your daughter to prevent such mishaps occurring again in the future.0

bit unfair to blame it on the kids isn't it"If I know I'm going crazy, I must not be insane"0

Of course, you could actually try using it....Maybe the next generation shouldn't be denied...;)Drinking Rum before 10am makes you

Sometimes Win10 installs of its own volition, ulp.
Other times it just needs a "tick the box to get it out of my way" start. As my mother found out, the hard way. Being a bit unworldly with computers she expected it to be odd every time she works with it, whereas my more savvy sis hit top C til she recovered her internet favourites...
Both seem to have taken to it with reasonable placidity now.0 -
Very impressed with Windows 10. It's night and day above Windows 7.
Give it a try.0 -
As above and if you don't like the start menu install something like Classic Shell .0

Could you be more specific please. In what ways is it 'night and day' above Windows 7?... DaveHappily retired and enjoying my 14th year of leisureI am cleverly disguised as a responsible adult.Bring me sunshine in your smile0 -
If you like 10 that's fine, but what annoys me is the fact that Microsoft is actually forcing it onto computers, using Windows 7 as a springboard. For those who don't want it and have that "Get Windows 10" icon in their Taskbar, there is GWX Control Panel: -
ultimateoutsider.com/downloads/
That will remove all Win 10 updates and downloads from your PC, getting rid of the "Get Win 10" icon in the process. Before downloading, scroll through the information and set up GWX as it shows.
I don't want anyone telling me how good it is: I don't want it! If others do, that's fine, no argument from me. I love Windows 7 and it works for me. I just object to the direction Microsoft is taking by cramming it down my throat, installing Win 10 "updates" that hide inside other updates.I think this job really needs
a much bigger hammer.

if you want to stand still/go backward just reinstall winxp"The Holy Writ of Gloucester Rugby Club demands: first, that the forwards shall win the ball; second, that the forwards shall keep the ball; and third, the backs shall buy the beer." - Doug Ibbotson0
