Decorating is on my list of things I would really rather not do - like gardening.
It is good fun when it's your own place and your own choice and you can do what you like. You'll have to have your granny round for dinner once you're settled. Not giving up

CCL - Yep, got my gran booked in for the first Thursday in June. I'm already thinking about what to make her. Although she thinks the sun shines out my bum so anything I put in front of her and she'll say it's nice. I'll treat her like royalty. I'll get my thinking cap and apron looked out.

Good morning all,
I've returned. Thank you for your kind messages.
It's been a memorable week. I got the keys to my own flat late on Tuesday and worked endlessly to decorate, clean, build furniture and eventually spent my first night in on Friday. Still feels a bit strange actually.
Yesterday was spent trying to organise the various utilities and make sure we're all set and on the same hymn sheet, which I think we now are. I've a letter in the post today to ensure I get my single person council tax discount so once that's all sorted then that should be me.
They don't have fibre internet in my area, well they do but it's all being used, so I've had to settle for a standard/poor internet connection to the tune of £17p/m.
Still got bits and bobs to buy for the flat such as; a chair, cutlery organiser, pair of tongs, blinds, hallway table, TV stand and some other things which aren't coming to mind.
I'm keen to get a full month under my belt to get an understanding of what my bills will actually be. Hopefully there won't be any surprises.
So that's it. I'm in. A lifelong dream fulfilled. I'll now try and enjoy it.0 -
Oh wow, congratulations
I hope you love living there - I always think that you can't beat the feeling of closing your own front door behind you after a long, hard day at work.“Have nothing in your house that you do not know to be useful, or believe to be beautiful.”

Oh thank you all so much.
CP - I still find it a bit strange. My mum came to visit on Monday evening and I showed them to the door and waved goodbye. First time I've ever done that and it felt very very strange.
I love the independence. I feel like I'm in charge of my life now, not that I wasn't before, my mum was very good in that way were she wasn't too intrusive. I'm sure the feeling will wear off but I actually enjoy housekeeping!!
I didn't do too much last night admittedly. I feel l'm still trying to get back into a routine after the week off. Tonight I'll have an early night and up early for the gym.
I've still to wait and hear from my solicitors regarding a partial refund on the fee's I paid them. I'm pretty sure they won't chase me to organise it but they said they would and it gives me more ammunition for when I do speak with them. They sent me a generic feedback email with a link to a form and I let them know my displeasure again. I'll give it till the end of the week.
Speaking of the end of the week, it's payday tomorrow. Before I get too excited I need to hold off from any temping spends and allow all my new bills to come off; mortgage, factor fees, council tax, contents insurance, gas, electric, line rental, broadband and sky. Not to mention all my other DDs; car, insurance, tax, YNAB, contact lenses and the gym.
I don't get paid a fortune, I earn £25k, so as much as the above is affordable, it's not luxurious. It's this reason that I'm really applying pressure to organise my bonus structure in work, which if I hit, earns me an extra £3k which would make a huge difference (extra £200 per month).
I've got Fire Marshal training this morning, so wish me luck.0
