Not long now Speky - that fortnight will fly over.

Time to take back control

Beginning to get really excited for it now. I'm going into Glasgow on Saturday to buy some bits and bobs, so tonight, I'll take a stock take of what I've already bought so as not to double buy silly things like ladels or tin openers.
I'll chase my mortgage people today and I expect them to tell me that the lender has made the change of date on the paperwork and we're good to go.
Decided to wobble about on 1 crutch now. That way I can open doors and hold things. Slowly going to get used to putting weight back on the leg.
Anyway, Bank Holiday over so normal service resumes, best get to it0 -
Be careful with that leg Speky. Don't push yourself too hard too soon. Not giving up

Thanks CCL. Conscious not to make things worse, so I'll take it slow.
As planned, I took a stock take of what things I've bought for the flat so that when I go shopping on Saturday, i don't double buy.
Today my mortgage broker returns from annual leave (feel like she's never in) and so I'll try and get a hold of her to get an update.
I know a painter who will sort me out with paint if I get him the colours. Looks like I'll save roughly 30%. I also found out that a family friend is buying me an iron and ironing board as a gift which is hugely appreciated. I always feel guilty in accepting gifts.
Anyway. Back to work. Hopefully have an update tomorrow following on from my discussion with the mortgage broker.0 -
Oooo Speky it's getting closer now! How exciting for you. Have fun buying all your bits and bobs!0

Morning,
With yesterday being the first Thursday of the month, it meant a dinner date with my gran. We had a lovely time as always. Chatting away and making each other laugh. She wanted to watch Masterchef so I made tracks around 8.15 and had a quiet evening.
A wonderful day today. Nothing but blue skies and it's warm for 8am. Long may it continue. I'm glad it's Friday and I'm not working over the weekend. Tomorrow, I'm buying some final bits for the flat and I've written a list so it should prove productive.
Not much else to report for now. On the financial side, it's looking healthy for now. My savings account has yet to be debited for the deposit of my flat, so aside from that my current account is the best it's been for a while, thanks to YNAB. I've started saving up for dentist appointments, hair cuts, clothes, my car tax etc.
God bless YNAB.
Have a super weekend all0 -
I love YNAB. It's a life changer!0

Morning all,
Lovely morning again today. Weather all weekend was glorious.
As planned, on Saturday I bought lots of things for my flat. All budgeted through YNAB so I'm not worried about overspending. I've still got £80 left in that category which should cover me.
Productive on Sunday which involved cleaning mostly. So I'm set for the week ahead. No plans really so I should get by with little to no spend which is helpful as move in day is 8 days away! EEEEK
So a tight month ahead but I'm used to that.
Right back to work once I've got my coffee. Toodle pip.0 -
Morning all,
Yesterday I had a palava trying to sort out line rental and broadband and ensuring it was strong enough. This involved me setting up with BT then cancelling shortly afterwards. I'll need to phone today to try and haggle. £60 for install seems a bit steep.
Do I need to make arrangements with utility companies or I do I inherit what the previous occupant used?

When we moved in we inherited there's and just made sure we took the meter readings as soon as moved in although we didn't call for a few days to change details. Then we switched to cheaper about a month later. Also made sure took water reading as soon as moved in and called later to sort dd.Debt: £14,000 now £2169Emergency Fund: 1000/ £1000:j0
