Good morning,
A lovely bright and blue-skied morning in Manchester.
This weekend I had my DM and SD over. They arrived on Friday and will lock up today. We had a busy yet relaxing weekend which was just what the doctor ordered after a hectic week in work. We visited two local markets, some local shopping, the dreaded Trafford Centre, a tour around the Manchester City Stadium and a Thai restaurant for a beautiful meal.
My spending wasn't through the roof by any manner of means, although I did buy a coat for £52 (which was down from £180) but that was needed. And with my travels to London and Basel last week, most of it on expenses, I'm all over the place with YNAB and my NSD's. Need to wait for the bank to catch up on Tuesday and start again.
I also need to start again with the healthy eating/exercising. My weekend was far from healthy, beers, currys, chips, sticky toffee pudding, cakes, cookies etc, which as you will all know, is unlike me. My DM also brought me 3 x easter eggs!! So I've still lots of temptation in the house for the week ahead. Anyway, yoga tonight will put me back on track.0 -
Good morning,
I usually enjoy a Tuesday morning, for the sole fact that it's the day that bank account catches up with my spending from the tail end of the week previous and I get a lot of satisfaction in cross checking with that I had anticipated would come off, actually has. This morning though, I'm not so giddy. My travels last week coupled with my busy weekend with my visiting family meant tracking spend was almost impossible. Moving money to my Revlot card, withdrawing money in Swiss Franks, buying things with my card, buying things with my Revolut card, withdrawing more money, what's on expenses and what's not?!?! It's a bit of a mess. So after this, I'll spend some time to sort it all - wish me luck.
I predict that I will be staying late in work tonight as I've got plenty to be getting on with. I don't mind staying late, as long as I had expected to. It's the ones that creep up and you had plans for your evening that have to change which annoy me.
So given this busy day ahead, I must get cracking!! Have a nice day all.0 -
Hello and happy hump day,
Yesterday was mostly spent in work although I did manage to nip out to the barbers at lunch. I am part of a very small sales team and on Friday of last week, one of my colleagues was made redundant because he wasn't pulling his weight, unfortunately. Such a shame because I really liked the guy and he had went out his way to help me settle in here but his work ethic wasn't there and in a small team, we need everyone to give it their all. Anyway, the office has gotten much quieter, so much so that I am in on my own today whilst my other colleague travels. No letting up though, got tons to do.
Back to football training tonight thankfully, which I'm looking forward to. I've got chicken out defrosting to make chicken chasseur tonight and I managed to quickly make some healthy cheesecakes last night to do me for the remainder of the week, can't wait to dig in to them. Need to do some ironing too before football training. Also need to remember and nip out at lunch and post my mums Mothers Day card.
But for now, I need to crack on with work. Hope everyone has a wonderful wednesday!0 -
Morning everyone,
Well, today is 2nd date night. Believe it or not, we're going to an axe throwing place then might grab dinner after. I know, it's really weird, but we're both into trying things like that or The Cube, The Crystal Maze, escape rooms etc. For me, it's miles better than like going to the movies. Get the competitive juices going whilst having a laugh.
Many of you have been on my financial journey with me for a number of years and you may remember that I originally got into debt as I paid for everything with my then newly girlfriend. I still have this urge to be the gentleman and pay, it's something I'll need to learn how to manage. To be fair to this girl, she was adamant about paying for this tonight, I'll get the food after. A compromise.
So today I got a taxi into work and I'll get a tram in to meet her at circa 6pm. I'm looking forward to it. Wish me luck.0 -
Enjoy date night Speky. Hope it is amazing.
Just remember that you can be a gentleman without paying for everything. Not giving up

Thanks. I try to be the traditional gentlemen by fulfilling all the other 'stuff' which I see as standard (opening doors, carrying bags etc) but the finances seem to be something ingrained in me so it's a battle I need to fight.
Morning everyone,
The axe throwing went well. We were in a group with 7 or 8 other people and they organised a tournament which I won!! My prize? A sticker. Nonetheless, a good laugh. We then wandered round the corner for a bite to eat and some drinks. So, some advice if you'd indulge me...she's a lovely girl, we're of a similair age, same sense of humour, into the same things (such as axe throwing lol) and unlike my ex, seems to be more considerate from an MSE perspective. However, I found myself changing my mind throughout the date on wither I was really attracted to her. I think we're both looking for a long-term relationship and so without sounding shallow, I feel that's got to be an important element to consider.
Anyway, aside from that consuming most of my thoughts today, I've got work followed by the gym. Compared to my last 2 weekends of visitors, this one will be quiet and to myself, which I feel I need. It'll be centred around watching the Old Firm on Sunday. So I'll either be elated or devastated come Monday morning.
Have a smashing weekend :beer:0 -
Sometimes the attraction isn't immediate and grows more by the connection you have and enjoying each others company , I think particularly as you get older this is the case
Looks and body shapes change but the person hopefully doesnt
However it is an important element and there has to be some chemistry and you have to fancy that person to get the progression you are looking for
For now , I would continue with the company and doing the things you mutually enjoy and re visit in a couple of weeks0 -

Yeah, you're right. I think I'll see her again and hopefully by then, I'll be a bit more certain on how I feel but at the same time, I don't want to give her the wrong impression should I decide that it's not meant to be. It's consuming quite a bit of my thoughts, so I'll continue to ponder it.
Happy Monday, happy April and happy brighter mornings!!
I opted for a quiet weekend, focused mostly around sport on the TV and doing some exercise myself. Meal prep for the week is done although I seem to have missed some items which I'll need to get today at lunch. So there goes my first NSD of the month!!
Disappointed that I couldn't see my DM yesterday but I sent her a bouquet of flowers from a local florist and a card. She sent me a picture of the flowers and as usual, they were lovely, so I don't mind the expense.
In work sharpish, with a blank canvas in font of me today but I'm sure I'll fill that diary up with things to be getting on with. Yoga tonight, too.0 -
Good morning one and all,
A later one from me today. I've had a bit of a shocker so far.
Terrible nights sleep, so I then opted to try and get some more sleep instead of getting up at 5.30am for the gym. Then I realised I forgot to buy instant coffee when I went to the SM yesterday so I brewed a coffee in a cafetiere then went to add some cream, which entered my mug more like a block of cheese than it did runny cream. So that went down the sink. By this point I was 10 minutes behind schedule so I've been chasing my tail since.
I've perhaps double booked myself tonight too. The ex-colleague who was sacked a couple of weeks ago also plays in my football team and he mentioned to me on Wednesday that there's a local pub quiz on Tuesday he asked me along to. I said I'd be up for it and for him to send me the details. He still hasn't (it is this unreliability that he was released for!) and so I've brought my gym stuff to go after work in case.
So, I must get cracking with my day today and get things back on track!!
Also, what's this wet stuff falling from the sky?!?!?
