At the supermarket I go in forward so I have access to my boot.

I aren't that great at reversing in to spaces, so if a car park is quiet I will always reverse in, as it gives me a chance to improve, but in a busy car park I go in forwards because I find it easier. Over time I am reversing in to spaces more and more.

See I've always found reversing in to marked bays to be considerably easier then going forwards as you can see the marked lines in the wing mirrors which helps with alignment.

Much easier particularly if it's an awkwardly positioned or very narrow space.

If I drive forward in to a bay it's largely guess work as to whether I'm centred or the car is straight.

Usually involves a lot more shuffling around.

It's fine in my wife's car as its so small that it doesn't matter if you're not perfectly straight. It's also easier to see the front and sides of the car.

But in my larger car it's much easier and safer to reverse in and drive out forwards.

It's only in supermarkets or when I know I'll be loading the boot that I go in forwards.

I'm guess I'm lucky, plus helps the time of morning I go, as there is a row I am able to reverse in and the footpath is there for the boot.

I usually drive straight in, mainly so that I can use the boot easily.

It really bugs me waiting for people to back in, especially when it takes them three attempts.

I tend to look for a spot then I would pull into this and exit my car and hey presto the parking is complete. :)

There's a major difference, when someone is reversing out they don't have right of way.

I reverse in and drive out.
Usually, at the end of the day, I'd rather have that slightly quicker pull away to get home rather than faffing about reversing, which I'm happy to do at the beginning of the journey.

Neither do you, when I'm reversing into a space and holding you up from your important business in a private car park.

Common sense rules though, you just don't reverse out when a car is going by. But you have to wait when someone reverses in.

I park as far as possible from the entrance where there are the fewest other cars. Drive in or reverse out is done appropriate to the space, I don't use the boot for shopping as I rarely buy more than two carrier bags worth at one time, can't abide spending more than a few minutes in a supermarket at one visit, so doesn't matter to me which way round I park.

Don't understand all those people that struggle to get into tight spaces on busy through routes to avoid a few seconds' extra walking.

What gets me is those who drive tediously slow around the entrance in search for the closest spot, when they could just park further away.

And don't get me started on those who park in disabled spots without a badge.

To answer the original question, I will always, always reverse in and drive out. Much simpler imo.
