I'll park in whatever way that's convenient and safe. I wont be judged :D

Generally forward in at the supermarket, reverse in elsewhere. There is a high street near me with side on parking where you can get a ticket for not reversing in. Fortunately, I was told by the only person I've ever known get a ticket. Might just be on relevant public roads.

I always park so i can drive straight out (reverse in or drive straight through to the opposite spot).... Never know when you need to make a quick get away!

    True, but to be fair:

    A) The Yanks have a lot more space to play with.
    B) Our cars have got wider and longer, and spaces haven't - but the Yanks have always had ENORMOUS cars, and are now going the opposite direction in many cases.

I drive an American car. It doesn't often get used for shopping.

As most of you. I always reverse park in as it's easier and safer to come out.

    Understandable.

I drive along the car park aisle at about 40 mph and then do a perfectly executed handbrake turn backwards into the space. Takes a bit of practice, but once you get it it's the quickest way to park.

It does make it easy to find your car as it is usually the only one ärse first into the parking bay.

A lot of US supermarket car parks have angled bays which makes reversing into the difficult/pointless. At least they are wide enough to fit a decent sized car into though, unlike in the majority of UK car parks.

In some USA states (especially those which don't have front number plates) it's illegal to reverse park in a bay as you 'hide' the number plate on the rear of the car.

In mainland Europe many hotels, including the Accor chain, have signs in the car park prohibiting reverse bay parking - so that suitcases don't get dragged along the sides of adjoining cars.

I'm not good at reversing into a space (yes, I know, I do practise!) so will only reverse if there is plenty of space around me, nobody watching, and no time pressure. Generally this means in the office car park.

If littl'un is with us then it's drive in forwards every time, because we have a long car and need to be able to open the boot for access to his buggy.

I tried to show off recently and reverse parked at the dealership when we went to order the next car. Then we decided to test the width of the new car's boot with the buggy ... I couldn't open the boot, being too close to the fence behind! I had to get in and drive it forwards a foot or two :o
