With what money? We had just spent every penny on buying the house, so money was very tight for the first few months.
It may have been an honest mistake, but a luxury i do not have the money for.Should've = Should HAVE (not 'of')
Would've = Would HAVE (not 'of')
No, I am not perfect, but yes I do judge people on their use of basic English language. If you didn't know the above, then learn it! (If English is your second language, then you are forgiven!)0 -

Each to their own.
The logical consequence of that is there are no absolutes in the world and everything is a matter of opinion.
This is manifestly not the case, which is why people who offer opinions, particularly unsolicited and judgemental opinions on the moral character of others, are expected to be able to back them up with some sort of logical thought process.
If an opinion cannot be backed up in this way it is worthless.
Yours was worthless.0 -

Well I cant answer what money you could have used as I obiviously dont know your finances. Personally I would have found a couple of quid to give him.0 -

Yours was worthless.
Arn't the majority of opinions on forums unsoliciated? Likewise, the basis of an opinion is likely to be judgemental. What you seem to be having issues with is that you seem to think I was judgemental towards pinkshoes, however I was only judgemental against the act she posted.
I'll back my opinion up with a further opinion, as you keep requesting.
I would have thought my post would have been quite simple to understand, even if someone did have a differing opinion. The window cleaner, though no fault of his own (nor pinkshoes) cleaned the front windows. Even if the full amount of what was possibly a £5 couldnt be spared, I would personally would have offered a couple of pound or a cup of tea in way of saying thanks, but not thanks.
An opinion is only worthless to a person that dosent agree with it.0 -

Justify why.
He had done something of no value to you that you didn't want or ask for.
Again, if he had done something with a negative value, would you still have felt you had to pay him as long as it was an honest mistake?0 -

You are just saying what you would do. You are not explaining the principle as to why you feel that should be necessary.
Your neighbour might as well pay him for cleaning your windows, neither of you wanted the service, or profited by it; and neither of you is responsible for his mistakes.
Explain your thinking.0 -

So demanding!
I am indeed, thus it being my opinion. Why would my neighbour pay when they recieve no benefit from the house next door having clean windows?0 -
To put it another way, why should the fact that he made a mistake on your property make you feel responsible for paying him?
If he'd made the same mistake on someone else's property you wouldn't feel you should pay him. So why would you in this case?0 -

As I said before, I get no benefit from having my windows cleaned. it's not something I value. If you value it, then maybe you should pay something. Most people don't.0
