  • Happy Easter one and all!

I have spent £15 (including an easter egg each for the kids) over normal budget and we're having four extra adults for lunch today.

Wow that's great. Where did you shop and what's on the menu?

  • My dad gave us some lamb, mother in law made a bakewell tart for pudding, we had some prosecco and g & t in the cupboard. I bought posh crisps and nice soft drinks in Tesco.

We had gammon and roast lamb with roast potatoes, roast parsnips, cheesy leeks, Yorkshire puds, carrots, green beans, gravy and rather randomly bread sauce! Very full now. Parents all gone home and we're watching a film in front of the woodburner (burning free wood!) and drinking tea.
  • I have been checking all balances most days and noticed this morning that my cap one statement said thank you for payment but it hadn't had come out of bank. Lucky I noticed as there wasn't enough to cover it! Quick rejig and I won't be paying an unauthorised overdraft fee! :T

Looking at the statements has been interesting - fewer transactions and I know what they all are. Plus they don't make me feel guilty when I see them.

Another really lovely couple of days. went to family for lunch and a gorgeous walk yesterday and did park and walk and homemade pizzas with the kids today. Determined to get them out for a few hours every day. They are basically like Labradors. Smelly and need lots of exercise :rotfl:

Just been doing what I hope will be a daily check of bank accounts. We are ending the month with about £16 :T - may not sound like much but feels like a huge achievement to not be panickng at this point. I need about £10 of that to top up petrol (going to London tomorrow with the sprogs but being treated to lunch and calling in to friends for tea) so petrol will be only expense) as I still have 3/4 of a tank. Think I massively over estimated our petrol costs on the SOA. Determined to do an accurate spending diary for April :A

Rugby tour is fast approaching - think I might contact a local cafe and see if they will do us a deal for a cooked breakfast if we book a big party in. Reckon it's worth asking. Other breakfast will be brioche, pain chocolate, apples, bananas and fruit juice which can all be brought with us. Can't remember if I said there are no cooking facilities in our accommodation. Trying to be a bit cunning about it all. Will add a few bits to the weekly shop between now and then so it spreads the cost a bit and try to plan as much as I can.
  • Just quickly costing up the pizza from lunch time

    Tom puree 37p
    Passata 35p
    Ham 40p
    Mozzarella 86p
    Cheddar £1
    Onion 10p
    Flour 36p
    Yeast 15p
    Semolina 26p
    Oil 10p

    £3.95

Made 10 dinner plate sized pizzas but we only had 5 today. Have five balls of dough, tomato sauce and grated cheese ready in freezer for next time so if we get a takeaway craving we can have good pizza in under 30 minutes! Will probably use about a £1 worth of extra toppings next time. Really chuffed with that!

Supper is leftovers from Sunday's roast in a pie. Kids already making faces...
