Alt80, i just had a quick peek at your diary from September and you have £40k debts and a BMW and a Range Rover, I'll read the rest of your diary, good luck with getting those debts down :) My hubby is self employed and has an Audi and barely any money coming in. I don't drive, I have to get the bus and pay off my debts!

Mothsinmywallet, that's a lovely idea to give some of the money to the band, it's so hard for the music industry now, the govt tells those in the arts to retrain and find jobs elsewhere, joy and fun in life comes from the arts!
  • Alt80 - I have worked for myself. It doesn't work if you're not motivated by money! People really are different. Also, your wife is exactly the same height as me. Impressed by her iron will.

Back to work for me today. Inset day so no kids which is nice. Looking forward to seeing my colleagues who are all lovely. Generally learn something interesting too.

Time for a quick check on the bank balances, put some stuff that was pending on YNAB.

HSBC Credit Card £6400 now £5587.43 now 5229.9 now £0!!!

  • Age of money 31 days! <bows>

Now just got to keep it like that.

  • Predictably age of money has gone down to 11 days as I paid lots of bills. I have been doing YNAB long enough to have quite a good graph going now. It will be interesting to see how it pans out. Next payment on HSBC card due on Monday. They will then add a boatload of interest.

Haven't really been spending any money - have a huge basket of online stuff for Christmas but have been really carefully looking for the best deals and making sure it's exactly what the kids have asked for. Although DS2 has asked for a salami and a spoon with an extra long handle  :D

It's been very satisfying paying for things out of the pots that are there ready and waiting. I am finding this phase hugely rewarding. Unfortunately DH did the shopping today so it wasn't as cheap as it could have been but he did pay for it.

Had a lovely walk with DD this afternoon and now watching the kids decorate some gingerbread men they made earlier. They are apparently finding it hilarious to add willies... not sure I'm going to want to eat any of these. They can have them in their lunch boxes. I shall expect a stern letter from the school.

@mothsinmywallet_2 Don’t understand not being motivated by money haha.

Lol kids request some strange gifts sometimes.

Brought a new meaning to d**k pics there but don’t tell me you didn’t when you were their age ha.
  • Didn't everyone?  ;)

I am bored of being poor but don't think that's quite making me motivated by money yet.  When debts are paid I will have an extra £350pcm to spend. It seems like riches.

  • I tend to ignore age of money on YNAB I think until you stop paying debts off its always going to be low.

  • True. I think it should go up by a few days each month as I get further ahead with each pot.
