@mothsinmywallet_2 you need my wife on the food case she’s 48kg but if you eat out it’ll be 3 days of no breakfast and plain chicken salad no dressing etc for lunch and dinner haha. Yeah makes me want to go and eat about three Maccies in a row but does keep me on the straight and narrow with the weight so I don’t lol. Same today because we had wine and toffee apples yesterday haha.

That is some food discipline.  48kilo is about 7 and a half stones isn't it?  I calorie count and yes if we eat out or I indulge in wine I cut back the day before or after but am nowhere near 48kg.  That is below a healthy weight though for my height so would not try to get to that anyway. 60kg is what I aim for. Cannot stand Macdonalds so that helps.

Career wise I’d say make all the cash you can but I really don’t understand why you’d enjoy the job that you do tbh. For me business is about profit. Enjoying the work yes but make as much as you can - only get one life.

Your last sentence really tickled me. 'You only get one life' means exactly the opposite to me.

Yep me too.  You spend so much time at work that enjoying it was  a priority for us too.  I left a well paid job for lower paid one because I hated it and it was stressful and once my DH and I stopped enjoying work we retired  :D:D

Quality of life is more important to some than how much money you earn, and for others earning more money is more important than having a job that would make you happy, we're all different and make different choices.

Excellent news on the desk and the weight loss.

I'm with you on the one life, I'm starting a new job soon and the interviewer was surprised as salary was way down my priority list.  I'm going to spend a lot of my time at work (usual 9/5)  and priorities are enjoying the job, decent colleagues, good working environment, good support and location.  Money comes afterwards, I'm lucky in that I'm debt and mortgage free, I have what I think of as substantial savings  and don't have to worry about every penny
  • I'm with you I'd rather have a job that pays less but enough i  can manage and without the added stress. When I finish at 5 I'm done for the day. I'd rather use my time spending with family and friends then jumping from job to job. For some people that's what they want and good for them if it's what you enjoy and thrive on but I just want a simple life. My mum died at age of 60 and I just think what if I spend all my time stressed out by work chasing the newest and best of everything to not get to enjoy any of it.

  • Just had email to say tickets for Thursday will be refunded. Sad times. Was really looking forward to it. Tempted to send half the money to the band we were meant to see. The arts are taking such a bashing at the moment. Or I could just put it back in the entertainment budget. Heart says former, head says latter.

I think a lot of you have the employee mentality tbf if I worked for someone else I probably wouldn’t be as motivated by work either.

@enthusiasticsaver Tbh before I met her I didn’t used to crave the Maccies / Starbucks / junk food all the time lol. Too many years of two plain chicken salads a day haha. She’d probably rather I was bankrupt than fat. Tbf she’s 5’3” so not very tall and the whole food / exercise stuff is what she’s into doesn’t harm anyone.
  • Ha no wonder you crave the food on Relievedsheffs diary if two plain chicken salads a day are what you eat. Your wife seems as obsessed with diet/exercise as you are with cars.
