Morning, just started reading you diary last night, I keep hearing so much about YNAB, can you do it on mobile phone or do you need a laptop. We’ve all made mistakes with debt that’s why we’ve came across this forum. Giving your daughter an allowance is a great idea, if she can’t afford it she will save and wait for next months allowance etc. You are surviving on your salary so I’d rather be in a job I love and get school holidays with children. You might feel differently when your kids get older. Keep up the good work
  • Thank you, that is actually a really good point. And when the debt is paid off we will have a further £350pcm to spare.

I (obviously) love YNAB. I started off with a free trial and never wanted to give it up. It has completely changed my attitude to money.

  • Hi, just read your diary and feeling inspired to try making banana bread!! The thread title could’ve been my own and although I’m trying to financially un**ck myself the fatness is still beating me.

You’ve done brilliantly so far, well done :)

  • I have lost a couple of pounds this week so feeling pretty chuffed! I am still the same weight as when I started this diary though. My new weight loss goal is to lose 1/4 pound a week. I will then be at target before my 50th birthday. I thought I'd try a very slow and steady approach 🤣

@mothsinmywallet_2 you need my wife on the food case she’s 48kg but if you eat out it’ll be 3 days of no breakfast and plain chicken salad no dressing etc for lunch and dinner haha. Yeah makes me want to go and eat about three Maccies in a row but does keep me on the straight and narrow with the weight so I don’t lol. Same today because we had wine and toffee apples yesterday haha.

Reading your diary kind of shocks me sometimes. I really want a new desk for my home office see a Timothy Oulton Aviator one that looks like the wing of a plane. It’s about £2750 and 100 worth it but won’t do me any favours spending on the desk right now. Have a nice solid wood partners desk now could probably get £500 towards the other one but still £2250 I’d be spending that right now I don’t have. Anyway was feeling a bit annoyed about it, read about your desk hunt and did think I’m probably being a bit of a brat lol.

Career wise I’d say make all the cash you can but I really don’t understand why you’d enjoy the job that you do tbh. For me business is about profit. Enjoying the work yes but make as much as you can - only get one life.
