  • Just earned a quick £5 doing surveys on Populus. Think I have about £23 in there now, not long to go until I cash out.

@mothsinmywallet_2 sounds like you’re doing what’s right for you and yours.
  • New soa looks good and I agree that using credit is probably not wise for you.  Concentrate on putting any spare money into savings perhaps rather than overpay the cards.  Being so heavily reliant on benefits you are vulnerable to any changes in benefit policy.

  • Universal credit arrived in the bank today. Happy half hour spent giving every pound a job. Was a tiny bit more than I was expecting so have paid an extra £11.13 off the credit card.

  • Plum and honey crumble for pudding last night. It's a Hugh FW recipe I used to make lots when the kids were little. Really delicious. One consumed last night and one in the freezer.

We have no plans for half term beyond getting out for a few free walks. I really need to clean and sort the house and catch up with some uni work. DH is staying over at a friend's house to dog sit tonight which will give me a break from the snoring.

Right then. Up and at 'em.

  • I've been sorting through paperwork today. Feels good to clear it out.

During the course of this I have realise that buildings and contents insurance and my car insurance are both due to renew next month. I'm wondering if I can jig things around so I can pay upfront for both of these. It would be incredible to do this and would make me very happy.

  • Just managed to renew car insurance for £263. Will then get £43 cashback via quidco so pretty happy with that. Managed to pay upfront too. So will now put £20 per month into car insurance pot ready for next year. Happy days.

  • And buildings and contents done - £192, £25 cashback. Will put away £15pcm for next year. Think I should divert these amounts as direct debits to my savings account. There are a couple of other annual costs that it would be good to put in there.
