  • I'd completely forgotten that it's mothers day :rotfl:
We don't really go in for that sort of thing in our household. The kids asked the other day if I wanted anything and I said just for them to do what they're told first time...
  • They hadn't forgotten - was brought breakfast in bed!
  • Aldi shop done - £71.96 so slightly over budget.

    Meals this week:
S - Pie, new pots, broccoli, carrots
M - Persian chicken, rice, green beans
T - fish fingers, waffles, baked beans
W - sausage meatballs, spaghetti, garlic bread
    T - pizza, salad
    F - Chinese fakeaway
S - macaroni cheese, bacon, peas

Need to get a few things for Friday's fakeaway but have some of it. Just spring roll wraps, bean sprouts and prawn crackers.

    Hello again!

I do this on my phone and I'm useless at bookmarking and keeping up sorry. Really glad to see your back on it. It sounds like you've had a tough time and I can totally understand why the debt has rolled up again. What a relief you've been so sensible with the inheritance. And I'm so sorry OH kept borrowing from your family behind your back. Is this the set you owe eleventy-jillion to?
I cannot understand how he can keep owing so much to HMRC from a failing business. Is it definitely right? Could you get a second opinion?
Good luck with the application for PIP and ESA. It is so difficult and might be best to get help from the CAB or similar to fill in the forms. The only advice I have is to fill it in describing his worst day and get as many letters from medical professionals as you can to go with it.

You can definitely do this xxx
    Loan 1 £5200/£8000
    Loan 2 £300/£5800
    Total £5500/£13800
  • Yes it's definitely right, composed of several things and between both of us. I need to find out exactly what's going on but I'm too scared currently...

Yes it's the same family that I owe more than can ever be paid back. It's been a tough few years!
  • Have just explained to DH he cannot buy anything at all ever. It went quite well :rotfl:

Good and bad for the last few days money wise:

Dad bought me a tank of petrol on Friday night and took me and DS2 out for pizza - I showed him how to download a voucher on his phone and saved him a tenner. I feel I got the better end of this deal.

Got a free lunch at work today so will save my soup for tomorrow.

Had DS2's birthday party on Saturday and in retrospect spent far too much. I thought I was doing well - had it at home, no party bags, homemade cake etc. Somehow it added up to more than £50  Looking back through receipts now to see what went wrong.

Still trying to get the hang of YNAB but even if I'm doing it wrong it's making me much more aware of spending and I'm now checking my bank accounts daily.

Not doing so well on my scary list of things to do. Mental block for several of them. And I got home too late to make a couple of the phone calls :o

Keep going with the YNAB, it will all click in to place soon. I wouldn’t be without it after using it the last 3 years. It has made a massive difference to how I manage, and think about, my budgets and spending.
    Save £10,500 - £2673.77 - 25.5%
    Pay off £7000 - £1743 - 19.4%
    Make £2021 extra income - £99.75
  • I think I'm just being a bit thick! I like the idea of allocating money but not sure how best to correct it when I've got things wrong.
  • Keep mulling over figures and thinking of more stuff I've forgotten. Feeling a bit scared now.
  • Have sorted out bus ticket app for DD which means we spend £5 for 5 tickets - saves us £1.50 every time she does that. Need to sort for DS1 (although he'll have to delete a lot of music to fit it on his phone). Will also stop the shrieks of rage when one of them takes my last bit of change.
