*So, I got resolution on an ongoing issue. In December I bought home insurance from the AA through CompareTheSuricate.com for £58. (My initial quote was £120.) The £58 policy was meant to give me £12 Quidco Cashback. However, after extensive attempts it was declined. Then I got an email from Littlewoods Catalogue saying I was entitled to a £20 online discount code as I was an AA customer. Again, after much time-wasting the code failed. So I in January I emailed Littlewoods to complain and to ask for a code that would work. I heard nothing until last week when I got an apology. Today I received a £30 cheque from them. This means I paid £28 for our year's insurance. Happy with that! I'm going to ask MSE Badger for my Home Insurance hacker badge.

Yorkshire I wonder if you know what triggered off your splurge? Of you know you could avoid it next time. Or you could block certain sites that tempt you too much?" Your vibe attracts your tribe":D

Morning Dawn and all that follow :hello: thanks for starting us off Dawn
Today will mainly look like this:
Washing on - done, looks like it might dry outside :j
Sort kitchen, quick clean round - done
Fly lady bathroom - done
Volunteer at sale all day. Lots of steps as an added bonus
hoping the lovely weather brings out lots of shoppers so I sell lots of my goodies
Tea from freezer/planner
Packed lunch for family for class whilst I'm out
Maybe list a few things on fleabay tonight with the offer Ally posted thanks Ally
Think that's about all for now, will check back later
Done everything apart from fleabay, may try now or after smalls are in bed. Sold over 50% of my stiff (including the bulky things). Will be intrigued as to how much that brings in. I donated 5 toys to local charity that didn't sell. All items packed away for next time. Spent £14.00 on clothes for DD, will come from cloth budget. Will return an item too as the quality was really poor. Very happy with that especially as it included a £5 dress that's about £40 new and looks new
Off to check out screwf1x link. Thanks Ally0 -
I've done the same Yorkshire lass. May be you could buy something from a charity shop at a fraction of the cost. I went into British Heart Foundation and found a dress new with tags at a third of the retail price. Or do as La ensconce says. Sometimes I go through my wardrobe and find things that have gone to the back and I haven't worn it for ages!
I have been doing an egg hunt with my DH and DD today which is great. Lots of fresh air, exercise and some small treats at the end. It was free to enter. I expect parks and businesses will be doing egg hunts or doing them in the next couple of weeks. Great family fun.Competition wins £14,136.30[\COLOR]0 -
Morning all

Saw there wasn't a thread yet, so thought I had better start one. It looks like it will be a nice day again today, so I am looking forward to getting out in the garden. OH is going to an auction, which means a day of peace and quiet for me - hope he doesn't spend too much though
My list for today:
Dog walks x 2 (though OH has just gone off to do the morning one) Done
Check banks Done
Housework that I didn't do yesterday
Hmm done some, but must get my behind in gear tomorrow morning as I have visitors
Heating off downstairs until wood burner time Still not lit it, though it is colder than yesterday, so it won't be long!
HM meals from stores In progress, finished up some hummus and salad bits for a sandwich at lunch, jackets, beans, cheese and salad for dinner
Finalise shopping delivery order for tomorrow morning Done, it is a big one, to make the most of the last 'free' delivery opportunity
Sort out hanging baskets and pots of strawberry plants I have the dreaded vine weevil again, so have sent for some nematodes - well, Foxgloves will know what I mean :rotfl:
Sort out flower pots in front garden (I have pansy plants to put in those
) Not done yet, as DD and GD came round, and we all had to play in the sink for ages :rotfl:
Monitor ebay items ending this weekend. It looks as though only one small item has sold so far. Oh well, they can be relisted
In progress
Make a cake of some description Fruit soaking for a couple of tea loaves
Hope you all have a good day
Well, OH has spent quite a lot (him and his collections ) but it could have been worse. I have had to buy nematodes, and have won another pair of shoes on ebay - must stop now! Hope they fit, if not they will be relisted straight away.
Yorkshirelass, commiserations on the spending - what I (now) do is, if I see something I like, I research what I might be able to get it for on ebay. Honestly, you will be surprised, even if new with tags (but I don't mind if they are second hand, if in good condition
) If I don't find the exact thing, it is often the case that I lose interest... Worth a thought? 0 -
Hello again!
Few more small things this afternoon:-
* Talked OH out of going to the near by burger van for lunch
* Cleared a lot of rubbish from the garden and filled up the black bin - will add some more once it's been emptied on Tuesday
* Swept downstairs
* Got washing partly dry on the line and now its hanger on the airers
* Stayed in my running gear until 6pm(!) as did the gardening/cleaning in it to save getting more clothes dirty!
* Washed hair and let dry naturally
However had to be a good neighbour and lend ours the washing machine! His broke part way through a wash so he just wanted us to spin it so not too bad!
Now to chill out for the evening ready for more gardening/sorting/diy tomorrow!Debt as at 5 June 2023 - £15,600.89
Current debt - £4,800
Total paid off - £10,800.89 (69% paid off)0 -
The List continued
* Sold a wee thing on eBay. Was feeling generous so split the profit with OH.
* Ordered OH's prescription using the free Patient Access App. Far less aggravation than phoning the surgery. About a quarter of UK GPs offer logins for this App now, by the way. Some lucky people can book appointments through it too, though my surgery doesn't offer this yet. (Android link) (iPhone link)
