Saturday 12 / Sunday 13 March - What small DFW things will you do today?

When we start out on the DFW trail we do loads of "big stuff" that makes quite a difference to our situation. These include having our lightbulb moment, cutting up the credit cards and cancelling Sky and the gym.

But once we have done the bigger stuff, we often feel that we are not making the same amount of progress, when in fact the small steps are helping us form good financial habits and helping us get closer everyday to staying in control and becoming debt free, or staying debt free.

Examples could be hanging washing out instead of using the tumble dryer or leaving your purse/wallet at home to avoid the risk of spending.

So be proud of those small steps, they really are important:money:

    Morning all :D
Saw there wasn't a thread yet, so thought I had better start one. It looks like it will be a nice day again today, so I am looking forward to getting out in the garden. OH is going to an auction, which means a day of peace and quiet for me - hope he doesn't spend too much though

    My list for today:
Dog walks x 2 (though OH has just gone off to do the morning one)
    Check banks
    Housework that I didn't do yesterday :o
Heating off downstairs until wood burner time
    HM meals from stores
Finalise shopping delivery order for tomorrow morning
Sort out hanging baskets and pots of strawberry plants
Sort out flower pots in front garden (I have pansy plants to put in those :))
Monitor ebay items ending this weekend. It looks as though only one small item has sold so far. Oh well, they can be relisted :)
Make a cake of some description
Hope you all have a good day :)

    Morning, hi Dawn.

Typed a long post yesterday and lost it so I shut the laptop down in frustration and didnt come back on here.

PrincessPea you can ring ACAS for free confidential advice you know. Google their number. They are really helpful and very approachable. If you are armed with some facts before you meet with work it might help.

Went for my first bike ride of the year yesterday, what a lovely sunny day here. Only 8 miles but I really enjoyed it.

Day at home today, grocery shopping coming this morning, DS2 needs his hair cutting, finance spreadsheets to do and a mountain of clean washing to sort and put away.
  • Thanks for starting Dawn

Feeling a bit brighter today (trying not to think about work). It is a lovely Spring-like day here. Took poochy out for walk early this morning when everything was so quiet and peaceful

Not a NSD as we're going to our wedding reception venue today to decide the menu and pay the deposit (our friend owns the restaurant we're having it in so have already booked it)

A friend is being confirmed soon so I'd like to get her a card (do such things exist?!)

    Banking/ FPL/ surveys to check

Housework, ironing and a general tidy up planned for the house

Trip to the cinema with unlimited cards tonight

Meals from stores but I need to visit Aldi to get fruit and veg for the week - this will come out of the food pot

    Enjoy the slightly warmer weather!

    Morning Yorkshire
I might do that. My union rep is very good and I used to be a rep myself until my increased workload when they halved the number of staff in my area forced me to give it up. Management just have a habit of twisting and turning and tying you up in knots unfortunately. We have an avoidance of redundancy procedure (as they'll effectively be making half of my current job redundant) but there are only two outcomes to that - continued employment in 'a' role, so not necessarily what I'm doing now - or redundancy. Ironically I find it much easier to stick up for other people than I do for myself :o

Thanks for the start today Dawn. I meant to comment on your self service experience yesterday. I find self service is fine if you only have a few things but otherwise it's a pain beyond enduring. Although the wombling opportunity is better on the ss tills. Change left in the draw. Reciepts. Coupons. The till is your oyster :)

princess so sorry about your job. It sounds a really crap thing for them to do to anyone. I would be checking your rights as well.

We're having a late start today. Just done bacon sandwiches for everyone. Hope everyone has a good day.

Tenth Anniversary Combo Breaker Car Insurance Carver! Debt-free and Proud!
    Morning all
All quiet here apart from cows and calves calling all night. Weaned yesterday and rural trauma all round. Has to be done as the calves are now almost as big as mum and mum is due to calve again in a few weeks. Like a music soundtrack to life.
No lambs this am and no losses so all good. Any day now it will be all go.
Am now watching nigella, an old one and fantasising about my ability to make a mousse" so easy" hmmmmm .
Should be nsd as I have no plans to go anywhere.
I need that list of jobs j wrote yesterday otherwise I may just day dream the day away.
