You can afford a cleaner. You can afford to buy a new vacuum cleaner.
You guys need to stop judging anyone who has a cleaner as if they are selfish millionaires!

I don't think the cleaner should pay for a new vacuum but I also agree with the posts above.

I have a cleaner because I'm not well enough to do my own housework. We cut back on other things so that we can pay her.

She has more money coming into her household than we do - not all cleaners are poor, downtrodden skivvies.

I am speechless that this topping even reach the debate here
If it broke it means is use
If is use the cleaner is doing her job
We are paid quite low wages in comparison what is called ( average uk wage)
    Still that's not the issue
This is a moral issue and this person that even consider bringing this up needs a good old school lesson !!

If you really think the cleaner broke the vacuum through carelessness, buy a new vacuum and change your cleaner. Otherwise, buy a new vacuum and stop being so weird.

Can't believe anyone would really ask this question, next you'll be charging staff when their company vehicle breaks down or PC stops working!
  • No! Like your vacuum cleaner, just suck it up.

'It's hard to tell exactly how it happened'

So you'll never know whether it's the cleaner's fault or your vacuum, just suck it up and buy a new one.

Also from a practical point of view, if I was a cleaner doing a couple of hours a week on (lets say) £10 an hour and someone asked me to cough up £100+ on a new hoover then I'd just quit. You'll never get the money anyway.
  • if you can afford a cleaner and the cleaner needs the money you pay them as a cleaner I don't think you should even consider asking them to pay for your vacuum! Get a life!
  • If I was your cleaner I would have

I sincerely hope that your cleaner has already left you, for another position where they will be better appreciated. I certainly would.

    It depends.

Did they knock it down the stairs or snap it in half or do something to damage it? If so yes.

If it broke because of a mechanical fault with the hoover then no.
