It's really difficult choosing, we went to Topps tiles, Tile Giant and a local firm, some of the ones I liked were nearly £50 square metre. And I'm not sure if some of the cheaper ones would withstand the footfall of a busy kitchen.

The local guy gave us a 10% discount for something similar, slightly smaller tile but still came in just over £150 more expensive for us.

    This may help

    http://www.moneysupermarket.com/credit-cards/guide-to-credit-card-protection/

You might not be aware of it, but that credit card tucked away in your wallet or purse possesses a secret weapon that provides you with fantastic protection against certain financial frights.
As well as helping you to make ends meet or to pay for big purchases which you wouldn’t otherwise be able to afford, your credit card protects you for anything you buy costing over £100. So, if the company that’s sold you something goes bust before the item is delivered, or if it’s broken and the supplier won’t sort things out, you can still get a refund.

I love you marmite xxxxx. Was feeling bad as told her to go with them, but I told her to pay on card so she had a month to get money together so hopefully that has saved her meney xxxx

OH uses them all the time, I have an absolute hatred for plastic push fittings... I know that they are tried and tested, but I still do not trust them.

She was very sensible paying my credit card, if they have done a runner you can claim the money back.

Just watched Channel 4 Dispatches about homecare. :(

From my experience with my mum there are some lovely carers out there but unfortunately there are some that don't seem to care but to be honest with often no time between visits and no one acknowledging their real worth what is to be expected. This problem stems from those higher up with unreal expectations in my opinion. I had to really push for longer in the mornings for my mum, realistically I could not see how even with my help what was needed could be done in the time and I was right. :o Thankfully with me on mum's side she had been giving longer visits before discharge but not everyone has someone fighting their corner for them. :(

When are those at the top going to realise that the less home care is funded the more people are going to end up in hospital/nursing homes where care costs a whole lot more. And not at least those not being discharged due to the difficulty of home care being found for them....

Not often I get on my soapbox but this really touched a nerve for me tonight, sorry. :o

Know exactly what you mean, TS. Before Dad went into a care home, he had carers four times a day, after a long fight. One of their duties was to cook/provide meals/drinks four times a day. Most of the carers were lovely but their schedule was demanding. I would stock his fridge with 'ready' cooked meals, either bought so date coded or ones that I had cooked for him. I always left a daily meal plan for the carers. Visits were scheduled between 8-11, 11-3, 2-5 and 4-8. Invariably they overlapped so that Dad would have his breakfast at 10.30, lunch at 1.15 and dinner at 3.00. As they were so close together, Dad just couldn't manage his meals. I found that they just took any meal from the fridge, regardless of date. They would use the one that took less time to cook. Each day when I saw him, his file would read 10.30 breakfast, ate well. Lunch 1.15 only half ate his lunch, declined pudding. 3.00 didn't want his dinner. Their last visit, they were not allowed to prepare food for Dad, only a drink. :( I would see him at approx 4.30 each day and would clear away his untouched dinner and cook him some dinner. I would always leave a sandwich for him and wrote in the log that Dad hadn't eaten dinner, what I had cooked afterwards and could they offer him the sandwich that was ready prepared in the fridge and record whether he ate it. I found that by asking (in the log) them to record what he ate that they usually made a note. At the beginning, I would just leave a note on a pad making the same request but it was ignored. When I wrote it in their official log, it was noted. Ditto, cleaning ad laundry.

Thanks both of you :A I hope they get it back to. As yes they had paid in full. For afternoon tea for 100, then evening hog hog roast with buffet. And puddings. Also a photo booth, popcorn machines and candyfloss machine.
So a lot if money. She paid by credit card so I have told her to phone first thing to see if they can help. And we will worry about caterers after so fingers crossed though not sure where she stands as don't do credit cards
See Marmite has beat me to it, but glad she paid by credit card. Get her to read the guide, then ring the bank.
