Saturday 5th/Sunday 6th - what small DFW things will you do this weekend?

When we start out on the DFW trail we do loads of "big stuff" that makes quite a difference to our situation. These include having our lightbulb moment, cutting up the credit cards and cancelling Sky and the gym.
But once we have done the bigger stuff, we often feel that we are not making the same amount of progress, when in fact the small steps are helping us form good financial habits and helping us get closer everyday to staying in control and becoming debt free, or staying debt free.
Examples could be hanging washing out instead of using the tumble dryer or leaving your purse/wallet at home to avoid the risk of spending.
So be proud of those small steps, they really are important.

Morning all :hello:
Glad you had a restful day yesterday Cat - hopefully more of the same this weekend. Today will mainly look like this :
DD to party, card and present from stash
Both girls to dancing
Remove wallpaper from wall we can now see no DH removed radiator, remove other radiator and do same
Save pennies on heating by not having radiators in a main room until they are replaced :money: jumpers it is then
Meals from stores
Make some soup
Relaxing night with DH, watch something recorded
Chose flooring for bathroom and lounge and e mail guy for quote
Think that's all, back later. Have a good day.0 -
Morning Jonno
Planning on a quiet weekend. Need to pop to Aldi later for some basics for the week ahead and this will come out of the food budget. We're then going to a pub for a friend's birthday meal tonight which I told OH I'd pay for us as it is our anniversary on Monday so we can hijack it as a secret celebration for us! OH is driving but I'm not planning on drinking
Banking/ spending diary to check
I need to get a card and birthday present (voucher) for my Grandad
NSD tomorrow
I've got the opportunity of doing 6 hours overtime this weekend but I don't think I can face it after a tough old week at work. The pay is coming out of a specific fund so I won't miss out on it eventually
The usual housework :A
Read more of my book and catch up with a programme on iPlayer
That's it for now. Hope everyone has a relaxing weekend

Morning all :wave:
Thanks for the start Jonno. Maria I really hope that you're feeling better soon.
In a rather bizarre twist of events dh has taken a bit of a turn for the worse again. I suspect he can't manage with my being off par, but my unreasonable and stressed self thinks that he just can't bear for someone to be more poorly than he is...:cool:
Plans for today include:
:cool2: Check banking and PAD
:cool2: Get ds to football
:cool2: Get ds to gymnastics
:cool2: Encourage dh to get out of bed and do something
:cool2: Catch up with bestie now she's on the mend a bit
:cool2: Arrange my cover work for next week and send it in
:cool2: Nap if I need to
:cool2: Get the kids to do some housework
:cool2: Relax
:cool2: Do a bit of crochet
:cool2: Investigate something to do with dh/kids that is cheap or free to get him out and about
That'll do for now. Have a good day all :beer:Not giving up

I forgot - I need to work out how to fit my new sparkly hub caps on my car. The ones on there were pretty tatty but fine until I spectacularly took one out at work while attempting to park. They only cost £15 but look a lot nicer than the current state of my wheels!02 0% £719.20 £434.48

Hi Saturday Savers,
Mr f has had to work today so I have no wheels, don't need anything & it will be an NSD. Other stuff:
*Two baths from one lot of hot water.
*Will make a picnic for our planned outing/walk tomorrow.
*Chutney making session this morning. Intending to make carrot & garlic chutney, which appeared in Sophie Grigson's 'Feasts for a fiver' programme years ago. It's unlike any other chutney I make & is mr f's favourite. Will also make some garlic pickle while I've got the food pro out. All jars & lids from my recycled stash.
*Finish knitting the cat I started last night.
*Re-list ebay items if we still have free listings to use.
*Do at least one survey.
*Pot up baby aubergine seedlings, cover with plastic bottle cloches & move to bedroom windowsill. Move more seeds into heated propagator.
*Use it up lunch. Hummous on its last day & could do with reducing quantity of tomatoes in fridge.
*All free leisure. Finish audiobook, read library book, update my blog & look forward to watching 'Trapped' tonight.
Have a good day all - especially all those who have experienced a difficult week.
Love f x2026's challenges: 1) To rebuild our Emergency Fund to at least £5k.
2) To read 50 books (12/50) 3) The Re-Shrinking of Foxgloves 8.1kg/30kg
Remember....if you have to put it on a credit card, extend your overdraft or take out a loan to buy whatever it is, you probably can't afford it, as that's not your money, it's somebody else's!0 -
Morning guys :wave: thanks for kicking us off jonno

Oh is back :j have missed him so much, absence definitely makes the heart grow fonder!
Need to be quick as have so much to do and dgd has finally decided to have some quiet time so I can actually get some things done!
Things I need to do today:
* load of washing & hang out :j spring's coming :T
* do some filing as have been so busy these last few weeks things have got a bit out of control :eek:
* all meals from stores
* froze some lo bits of bananas as lo has a habit of eating half....
* download application for masters
* Hope oh will give me an hour off of childcare duties so I can make a start on it...
* possibly sort out my cc statement but as there have been a lot of spends this last month it might need to wait until tomorrow when I have a bit more time
* repot seedlings and sow some more :money: Foxgloves/dawn have you sown courgettes yet?
* possibly look for phone/broadband deals. Several of our outgoing have increased for 2016 so could do with a few savings...
Ok that's enough I think as am working this evening. Hoping to take dgd for a walk on the beach and an ice cream. Hope oh is up for it as he is exhausted after his intensive course - he was working 9am-10.30pm each day and some days longer :ADF as at 30/12/16

Morning all!
Lovely meal with bestie and her parents last night - they're like my second parents after 25 years of friendship (bearing in mind I'm 29!)
Today I have/will:-
* Check banks
* Do Neila Rey workout - if you google it there is hundreds of at home, no equipment workouts. Printed it out at work of course!
* Not shower as helping friend with DIY shortly so would have needed to shower again later!
* Put towels on a quick wash in the hopes of getting them dried on the line!
* Another load of washing on a 30 degree ecowash
* Pay money into bank
* Do money shuffle
* Wrap present for mum and friend using paper from stores
* Get gift card for friend's daughter
* Help friend with DIY to be a good friend and a bit of free exercise!
* Wash hair and hopefully have time to let dry naturally
* Dinner out with parents tonight - Dad's paying!
* Staying at parents tonight
Think that's everything for today. Hope you all have a good day.Debt as at 5 June 2023 - £15,600.89
Current debt - £5,100
Total paid off - £10,500.89 (67% paid off)0 -
