Hi everyone,
I went to bed at 8.45pm last night! Don't know what's got into me the last few nights and I was up bright and early ready to post this morning but no one had started hehe!! So here it is!
get kiddies up, breakfast and dressed
take DD ballet (MIL pays for this and she loves it!)
very small food shop for basics until I get money on Wednesday
check lucky phone and freepostcodelottery
home to do dinner from stores
chill out and early night again!
Very basic boring day, kind of want Monday to roll on strangely as I find it hard not to spend at the weekends!DMP Started June 20160 -
Morning
Jonno thanks for getting us started, I was surprised to realise today was Saturday, OH has had the week off and we have done somethings out of routine, evidently it takes very little to confuse me
Nothing exciting happening here, lessons and chores this morning followed by cooking and playing games together this afternoon.
Today I plan to:
NSD
Post on this thread for support, motivation and inspiration
Open curtains fully
Close curtains before it gets dark
Turn off lights and appliances not in use
Take meter readings
reusable sanitary wear
Stick to meal plan
B/L/D from stores

Renew library books
Check and reconcile bank accounts
PAD into saving £3.66 -1p
Soak porridge overnight
Set DW to run overnight
Set WM to run overnight

Educate children for free
Entertain children and us for free
Do not wash hair
Walk everywhere
Dry washing on airier
Keep heating to a minimum, we have jumpers and blankets
Light the stove, burning free wood, will do this at lunch time so it cosy when we are playing games
put kettle on stove for free hot water, put water in flasks if boiled before ready to use and refill kettle, water used for making hot drinks (we drink plenty of these, cooking rice, pasta etc, washing up etc)
We have been working through quite a few things on our annoying list, we have spent nothing so far. We still have lots to do, most of them won't cost us anything only time and or inclination. Thank you Foxgloves for telling us about your lists, it has been inspirational.Fashion on a ration 2025 0/66 coupons spent
79.5 coupons rolled over 4/75.5 coupons spent - using for secondhand purchases

Hi everyone
I managed to get some washing nearly dry between the showers which made me very happy. It is now finishing off in the tumbler.
I plan to spend some time today getting OHs accounts up to date. Its his year end at the end of the month and we need to know what his accounts look like. DH has gradually worked less and less hours over the past couple of years and if I am going to take this extra job then he needs to pull his weight too. A touchy subject.
Need to do meal plans and budgets too. Quite a bit of time in front of the laptop today I think.0 -
DNMS - No! It's too early for courgettes. I'll be sowing cucumbers next week but will need to keep them warm. Courgettes & squashes are best sown in April. They grow quickly but don't like cold weather, so can't really go outside till the end of May x2026's challenges: 1) To rebuild our Emergency Fund to at least £5k.
2) To read 50 books (12/50) 3) The Re-Shrinking of Foxgloves 8.1kg/30kg
Remember....if you have to put it on a credit card, extend your overdraft or take out a loan to buy whatever it is, you probably can't afford it, as that's not your money, it's somebody else's!0 -
Hi March Misers,
Today is my day off and I've been busy all morning after a blissful sleep. Feeling a lot better today.
This list will grow as I do things:
Debt Free-Nillionaire Continuity Plan Month Nine:
* Checked balances.
* Updated Finances Spreadsheet.
* OH was going to consign an unworn 10-year-old pair of lightweight boots to the gardening-wear pile as they don't fit and have been languishing in the wardrobe all this time. My work trainers have worn through so I'm having them. Gave her £5 for them. I was going to shop around for new trainers so that's a good £20 saved. I refuse to buy cheapest trainers as they don't last long enough. I changed the laces with ones from stores to a type I prefer.
* Gave the front door a free face-lift. Cleaned it then removed decaying stick-on draught-proofing and replaced with some more from stores. Then removed name plate from door. (That got the neighbour's curtains twitching as to do this in our village signifies a move, marriage, divorce or death! I predict someone will find an excuse to come to the door to see if "Dowd" has been replaced with something else.) Cleaned plate with a brillo pad and put it back with shiny new screws.
* OH has recycled, old very dead and dangerous strimmer having first removed screws and any salvagable parts. I always keep screws before binning things. That way I never have to buy any and I always have one the right size.
* Listen to CDs from collection. It's a sin to have them sitting there unused gathering dust.
* OH has just been paid for six weeks' work but alas it's too late to get the cheque in the bank today to clear.
* Do RM Surveys, i-Say surveys and GfK Media Surveys.
* Just spruced up the front garden. Weeding done, moss attacked with a hoe and had a good sweep. OH has planted potatoes out the back in ginormous tubs and mowed the lawn.
* Bird feeder has had a makeover. Rust removed with a brillo pad and thoroughly cleaned. OH was all for buying a new one but I wasn't having any of that.
* Translate a form for a friend. My laptop is not in the mood to be bilingual today, sigh...think I need to find some new free software.
What about you folks?

Hi everyone
Wow - I miss the thread for a few days and so much has been happening.
Jonno - thanks for the kick off :A
Make the change - by all means start us off if you're up - no one minds who starts
Ziggy - Sending you all my love - hope you are keeping well :grouphug:
DNMS - Wow - exciting times about applying for your course and your new job! Well done, you superwoman you!
Maria - I hope you start to feel better soon. Lots of R & R and a few more films please - don't rush to get back on your feet if you don't feel like it.
CCL - Your post made me chuckle as my dad sounds like your DH. Dad is always telling everyone how sick he is and then Mum got really sick and all of a sudden dad was even worse and didn't get out of bed for 3 weeks!
Big love to everyone else!

I had a job interview yesterday. I liked the sound of the role so I decided to go for it but now I'm scared that I might get offered it!
It's not that I don't like my current job (I actually really like it and I think I will really miss it and the team if I leave...) but the other role is a more prominent role in the business so sounds like it would be a good move on paper... They said they will be expanding the team so even if I don't get it this time it's good for the director to know who would be interested in future. Eeek, wait and see I guess... Why is it so cringy going for interviews though?! I can't get the 'I should've said/why didn't I say...' stuff out of my head all night and this morning...
Here's what else:
Covered a class this morning :A
Replied to biz email
Update website/blog
Sort YNAB
Food from stores :A
Cleaning and tidying all day!
No heating on yet
Make soup with tired veg :A
Doing a money shuffle and moving OH's cc's to a 0% deal
Catch up soon everyone.
Tonight I'm doing something not-so DFW-esque so I won't even mention that we are off to Ikea
In small things, I'll not eat at their cafe and will not buy stuff we don't need...

Afternoon all

Thanks for the start Jonno
Really cold here again today
So fed up with wet, cold weather! The catch on my 15 year old Bosch washing machine broke this morning
OH has attempted a temporary repair, but I have ordered a new catch assembly from ebay, which I hope will fit. Hope it can be fixed ok - the machine is old and tatty but works well. Don't really want to have to buy a new one
So far today I have:
Stewed fruit from freezer with my breakfast porridge instead of bought fresh fruit
Finalised shopping order for delivery tomorrow morning bright and early
Been to sales unit to tidy up / add new stock - sold 2 small bits while I was there
Leftovers for lunch
Still to do:
Second dog walk
Rummage in freezer for something to cook for supper (meal planning fail
)
Go to CS and see if I can find a coffee table for GS1's birthday (strange I know, but it is what he asked for :rotfl:)
Any online surveys, check FPL
Put CDs in wallet I already have, and recycle the cases
Sort out greetings cards and get rid of some I shan't use (might try ebay). If ebay not successful, I will see if the CS would like them
Put another small item of clutter on ebay. I have 2 things with bids on
Help OH organise paperwork for a pub quiz for fund raising for his community group
Carry on with organising my recipe file, which I got slightly caught up with last night
DNMS, I agree with Foxgloves, it is far too early to sow courgette seed. It can't go out for ages, grows really quick and you will end up with your house being taken over by triffids :rotfl:
Hope everyone has a good day
