Mortgage on Flat where bedrooms separated by common landing

I'm interested in buying a flat where the second bedroom is separated from the main part of the flat by a common landing. So you have to exit the front door of the flat, walk down a common corridor to then enter the second bedroom. (It's all on the first floor of a four story building)

My question is would it be difficult to obtain a mortgage on such a layout, really concerned about problems with any future sale?

Thanks.

So it's a one bed flat with a storeroom down the corridor? I wouldn't buy it and it doesn't sound as though it's actually a two bedroom property.

Sounds utterly bizarre and incredibly inconvenient. It would definitely be a problem for a future buyer if that was me, since I wouldn't.

Is this flat very cheap for the area and advertised as having a quirky layout? It's a one bed flat, that's all so it's not the bargain it may seem.

It's a really nice flat, the only downside is the location of bedroom 2 which I could live with, but just concerned about a future sale. Not really a bargain - would be a top end price for a one bedroom and average for a two bed.

Thanks for the feedback so far.
  • Sounds totally impractical to me. Not easy and no privacy if the 2nd bedroom occupant needed to nip to the loo during the night etc!

I wouldn't buy a layout like that, so I imagine it would affect any future sale chances if others felt the same.

Legal matters aside, how would you get to the toilet in the middle of the night? A long walk plus two lots of locked doors in the way.

Forgot to mention that the second bedroom has an en-suite wc/washroom (no room for a shower unfortunately). So no problems getting to a loo in the middle of the night!

Has this been somebody's attempt to create a separate studio flat? Can it be joined up with the main flat? I doubt it complies with building regulations in order to be used as a habitable room, so it's likely to be valued as some sort of ancillary storage.
