I just received an email from AQA offering me the job!

However, I do not have a degree. The list of requirements you have to read through prior to applying and doing the test says that you must have a degree. I was truthful and said that I don't have one and then applied anyway.

So, as it turns out, it's the answers that are the important thing they look at and not qualifications. Which is good news for me and good news for you!

I applied last week and was offer a post yesterday. I'll be registering as self employed and paying a lovely 40% on my AQA earnings, but I'm doing it more for fun and a bit of pocket money more than anything else.

I've not ever registered as self employed before, so just a quick question. For this role you require a computer, modem and monthly internet connection. Can I claim the cost of these as business epxenses against my tax?

I managed to pass my test, have sent my contract and have now been sent the instructions on setting up KES. BUT I can't download it, it says it cannot connect to the download server. Just wondering if anyone else had this problem and has managed to fix it??

Hiya, i was wondering can anyone help with these questions? I should probably already know so sorry if you think they're stupid. I'm about to do the AQA test and fill the application form in.

1. What is a two character reference?
2. What is a tutor and a lecturer? I'm at 6th form and is the tutor your form tutor and your lecturer one of your subject teachers? If it is then could i not just put two of my subject teachers?
3. Will they actually contact my teachers?
4. If i was to be successful then i need to register as self employed but on average what percentage/how much of my earnings will i be taxed? if that's the right phrase.

If you have none of these things already, then there are different rules regarding how much you can claim for the computer and modem but generally if you already have these then you can claim the percentage that you use for the 'business' side from the internet connection - so you will need to monitor how much time you spend using it for this against how much you use it for all other reasons and then that is what you can claim.
