    Well done Emma!

I still havn't heard anything back from my application, so I'll wait a bit longer before following it up.
  • Hi
I emailed AQA on saturday to request an application. I got the autoreply email saying they had vacancies. It's now tuesday and I don't have my application yet. How long does it normally take to get it?
Also, I've never done the application before, so does anyone have any tips on how to do it well?
    Thanks!

Hi all, Does anybody know if they still have vacancies for the uk? The website only shows positions for other countries. Thanks Elaine

Does anyone know at what point they contact your referees? Is it once you have passed the test and been accepted?

I am still in my current job and don't want to upset them by a phonecall out of the blue so I'd like to tell them to expect it.

My previous employer no longer exists! Nor does the one before! (Is it me?)

    Hi all,

I'm afraid if your from the UK and didn't receive the application form you got unlucky this time. I got mine on the last day sent it off ASAP and got the job offer today :) . I didn't do anything fancy in the researcher's test, just keep it simple and follow the rules. I also recommend going on some basic punctuation websites to remind yourself of little grammar rules.

    Good luck in the future
  • Hi Guys,

I am just in the process of returning my test, if any AQA Researchers could spare a few minutes to offer advice on some questions before i send the test back, i would be eternally grateful.

    Many thanks.

Gutted I have just come across this, and they are no longer needing people in the UK.

Does anyone know how often they tend to recruit?

I used the free question to see how good it was. Was very impressed.
I asked... "Why hasnt the United Nations been able to prevent the Genocide in Darfur?"... I thought "ooh that'll stump em!"... but within about 5 seconds i received my answer...

"The UN havent been able to prevent the genocide in Darfur because it's a toothless organisation. Full international backing is needed for effective action!"

    Very impressed!

  • Weird AQA-related story: I applied for a job with AQA at the start of July and was sent a rejection email a few days later, telling me to apply again in six months' time. But then, last week, I got another email saying, "we haven't heard back from you since we sent your contract so we'll assume you no longer want the job unless you reply to this message" !!!!

I replied straight away, saying I thought I'd been rejected, and they immediately sent a contract for me to sign! I'm now waiting for my welcome pack!

I've heard a lot about AQA emails going astray etc, but nothing like this before! Just thought I'd tell you all about it to give you a bit of hope if you've been rejected!

Lousier 123, it's not dumb - when someone first suggested I work for them, I thought they meant the exam board!

Basically, AQA stands for 'Any Question Answered'. People pay £1 for every text they send, and AQA workers endeavour to send them a quick, accurate, and entertaining reply.

There are 1000s of 'freelance researchers' working for AQA (you are self-employed), who log into an internet system whenever it suits them, to answer the whims and queries of the British and Irish public. I've been doing it since April, and at 30p a text the cash can really build up once you get into the swing of it. I absolutely love it, and whilst it's true that the senior team are sticklers for accuracy, they are really encouraging and supportive if you show that you're committed to their vision. Ok now I'm making it sound like a cult... it's not, I promise!

As far as applying goes, vacancies are advertised at issuebits.co.uk. It's worth checking regularly, as posts for the ever-popular UK can come and go in a matter of hours. Once through to the application stage, you complete a test of 20 or so questions, which essentially see if you can follow instructions, research, spell and write to tiptop levels of accuracy.

Sure, it's not for everyone, and I'm skeptical about these people who are purported to earn £40k a year doing it, but it's a genuinely interesting and rewarding way to earn some extra cash.

If anyone has any more questions, please please do fire away here or PM me. I'm more than happy to help.

From the above it's a wonder that I have the concision to condense anything into 153-character answers!:silenced:
