    Hey,

Thanks for the link, I had a look and it said degree level education or equivalent. I've completed A levels and done a level 1 OU course (equivalent to the 1st 6 months of a degree). I decided Uni was too expensive to consider right now (plus OH works f/time and I thought it just wouldn't work well!) so I didn't go on to do that, do you think they'd still consider me?

Also, has anyone applied successfully before? It asks for an email saying why I'd be great at answering "question marks" ... what sort of thing have people put before? All I can really say is I'm very good at researching info on the internet and finding things out ... does that count?!

Also, I work f/time ... do you have to do a min. amount of hours, or how does it work?

Sorry for all the questions! :o

Hiya, you don't necessarily need a degree, there are a few people on here who work for AQA who don't have one. It isn't set shifts, but they ask you what days/times you are usually available.

As far as the 'question marks' question goes, I put 'I am interested in a wide range of topics, and love trawling the internet to find answers to questions' or something like that....I think your answer will be fine.

    Good luck anyone that's applying!!

  • Hi MissKJ - they pay 30p per question answered, so the faster you can answer them, the more you earn. You get faster with practice of course!

They say in their introduction bumph that average earnings are about 7.30 per hour, but it also depends how many questions come through. Late at night (drunken pub quiz time) and over the weekends are the busiest, so if you can work then, you'll be able to bump up your earnings.

I got accepted last week, and am just awaiting my starter pack so I can get the pennies rolling in! I worked out if I can answer 50 questions a day (about 2 hours, hopefully), I can pay the mortgage!

Happier times - thanks very much for your kind comments! I've just thrown myself into being fully self employed, so it's a bit rocky for debt repayments!

    Good luck everyone

I work for AQA and definately don't have a degree :p

They look for correct answers (obviously), as much info as possible within the limited character space (you have to answer between 120-153 characters), they look very closely at spelling, grammer and punctuation (very closely!) and if you have room to stick other facts in about whatever is being asked for then that's a bonus.

You will not make a mint off of this, a high percentage of the questions are quite difficult and take time to research - especially when you're new at doing it like me! But it's good fun, once you've passed the initial induction stage you can do it when and for how long you like with no pressures.

    HTH,

    Good luck! :D

I've got a degree but have been rejected by AQA about 3 times! I must just be rubbish, the thing is I know I could do it though.

No, you download their software. You do for the test though.

  • I've been with AQA just over a year now and went full time with it in May after being made redundant.

You can work whatever hours suit you. Payments are made monthly and you just need to register as self employed. If you don't already work you need to arrange your NI contributions as well.

You don't particularly need excel other than if you want to keep any kinds of accounts of your earning.

I averaged £10.34 an hour last month, but I need to then pay tax out of that.
