Just tried to apply and got '(there are currently NO vacancies in the UK)' in the response...

Unfortunately it looks as though the vacancies for the UK have come off in the last half hour - forty five minutes.

Was helping a friend who wanted to apply, she sent off her email and got a reply that there were no vacancies in the UK.

Continue to check daily for change though.
  • I must have just got in at the correct time. My application is on it's way apparently :D

Sorry to those of you who didn't get there in time though :(
  • You will not make a mint off of this, a high percentage of the questions are quite difficult and take time to research - especially when you're new at doing it like me! But it's good fun, once you've passed the initial induction stage you can do it when and for how long you like with no pressures.

Hi Jo1972 - could you tell me how long your induction period takes? Do they pay you during it? I'm gagging to get earning!

    Cheers

  • Thanks for that Keren29.

I sent my contract back on Tuesday night, but haven't heard from Rowina yet, or recieved a starter pack. I sent an email to the aqa_jobs@yahoo.co.uk address to see if they had recieved it, but just got an automated response.

Does anyone have an alternative address I could try? (or am I just being paranoid!)

    Thanks

    Hi DJ,

Sorry wasn't around last night to answer your question (I was busy AQA'ing :D), it was the same for me as Keren said, it's quite informal and my senior researcher is really lovely. He talked me through it on yahoo messenger, you have the AQA application open in the background and he told me where to find stuff and which button is which etc. Then he gave me a sample question to try, I had to find it in the system and answer it. He said to take my time but should only take 5 mins or so  Then that was that, induction over and he told me to start answering question, he said I had 4 days to answer 30 questions or so then let him know when I'd done it and he suspended my account and marked the questions. Then you have another pretty informal chat on yahoo messenger and he tells you what you did right and wrong. When you go into your account you can see the questions that you answered and their comments too which is helpful.

They are very very busy at the moment recruiting, I know that on Friday night there were over 500 questions backed up in the queue so give them a few days and they'll get back to you.

  • Thanks very much for that Jo. I have sent Rowina an email just now, so fingers crossed I will hear soon.

Looking forward to getting started now! That debt will be paid off in no time!

Remember, they are REALLY hot on spelling, punctuation and grammer. Try not to abbreviate words unless really necessary. Read the answer policy document you will get with your pack, this is important cos I skimmed it and was marked down on a few of my questions because I made a few errors. I overused exclamation marks, they don't like his as it trivalises the answer!!! Also look in this document for how to put dates, measurements, times etc. cos there is a particular way to write this in your answers...you don't want to get marked down when you got the question right but wrote it wrong.
