  • Hi all...

Thought it was about time I joined the fly party! (I lurk on the OS board a lot & post occasionally!) Need a boost to help me get going again after a rotten summer of being ill with pneumonia & the house higgeldy piggeldy cos I had to shunt DD1 & DD3 out of their rooms so we could have foreign students to stay to pay for carpets that have just gone down.... (so furniture all over the place - this weekend's project to put it all back & sort out as it goes back...)

I was planning to use my whole summer holiday (from uni, so June-Oct) to really blitz my house but that plan went out the window. Just starting to feel well enough to begin to try & put things straight again, and need to get prepared for going onto full-time (unpaid) placement at the end of November. Plus I work 3 days a week from home typing too.... And something to help give all 3 DD's a kick up the behind with doing some chores!! Sometimes I just get too exhausted to argue with them about doing jobs - they have their moments & can be really good, but usually just when I need the help most is when they don't/won't. Thank heavens for my mum - though she keeps putting my washing out/getting it in, lol!!!!

I am getting back into meal planning as I saved a fortune when I did that before - so will be reading the meal plans threads for a bit of inspiration for variety/new meals. Gonna get Mary Berry's new Complete Cookbook - my mate has just got it & it's lovely, photos of every meal & clear instructions - so that will help DD's on their allocated day to cook dinner...!!

So am looking forward to becoming a proper flybaby and hopefully by the end of the month I will be a lot more organised and starting to feel the benefit.

Oh - and I treated myself to a Henry (hoover) a couple of days ago after years of seeming to jinx every hoover I possess - and He is wonderful!! That should make life easier - and DD's like the novelty so maybe he will inspire them to hoover more regularly (as it's a lot easier now).

Welcome Squiggly, sounds like you've had a lot on and are now getting yourself back on track, I hope you find this thread useful. Do your DDs help around the home to earn pocket money etc ? I've done a chart with my boys adapted from one on www.chartjungle.com for which they earn points over the week then the points become pennies at the end of the week. I don't know how old your girls are but a similar system taylored to their age etc may help.

Anyway, good morning everyone, sorry for not posting again last night, my eyes were hurting through tiredness and just couldn't focus to post. Think I got to sleep about 2am, just laid in the dark until then. I now have a name for the other person who was at the house next door and was shouting stuff so going to ask around to find out who he is, not a name I recognised.

Boys got me up at 7am, another fish has died so another one to go back today, starting to wonder if any are going to survive. Oh also we have lots of babies, swordtails or guppies I don't know which, one must have been pregnant when we got them a few days ago, might see if I can get a trap for them today aswell.
One day I might be more organised...........

  • Morning,
It's another sunny day and I'm full of beans again!

Your house will be less higgledy piggledy, Squiggly diddily (try saying that fast) in no time at all. Welcome to the thread! We do our own lists and play catch up with the thread list on the week end (and chat a lot) so you could do what you feel until the new list goes up for Monday. Either way you'll be made very welcome.

You'll all be pleased to hear I'm going to brave the laundrette this morning with the duvet that's been sat in my boot for a fortnight :rotfl: I'll dump it and do my shopping on Front Street. I'd like to get some more done in the kitchen this weekend and the garden and the tip and clean my car out and.. whatever else I find.

Lil_me, was everything OK last night? Been thinking of you.
Edit to say, there you are! At least it was a quiet one.

    Ta ta for now, Solway.
