Yes, but don't forget some people will be 'giving it away' just so they don't have to store it overwinter......:D so you might get even better bargains.

I know what you mean about paying full price for anything though - I now tend to 'shop' at the boot fairs - get far more of a buzz when I find something on my list and I know it's only cost me a fraction of what I'd pay on the high street.

I wonder about the car booty prog on tv, they claim you can sell things for £50 and more. wee bit of china that your granny would like etc!! Nobody round here would pay that sort of money at a CBS but we are scottish!
Anyway at our last one it peed down all day and was freezing so didn't sell much but DS got some GBS games he was happy with and DH bought a great junior golf set and caddy car for DS for £5 and my dad reckons it would be worth at least £50.
The best one was ages ago I bought a set of 6 dumbbells for £2 ( about £18 in argos)and talk about dumb, I picked up the box or tried to and they all fell thru the bottom into a puddle - too heavy aren't they? so I had to take them to my car one at a time while the seller was helpless with laughter and guess what ? they're very happy and dusty living under my bed!

  • Hi wigglebeana we always go to carboots in south yorkshire we love oldcotes it is massive, also there is one at barnsley market these are both on sundays.Try to get there early if you go to oldcotes as it can take hours to look round.Hope you get there and get lots of bargains at your first carboot.also I agree with the other person (sorry cant remember their name) buy at the carboot and make a profit on ebay me and my hubby have ,
    good luck
  • It's amazing how what ever we want turns up.

My daughter asked me to find a big teapot for uni - enough for 6 cups so they can make tea with loose tea which is cheaper then T bags. On the second table I found a brand new stainless steel 8 cup size together with jug and sugar basin. All for £2.

The next weeks she found herself a dance mat for £3 and games for it on another table for £2 then two better hands sets for 50p. All this to go with the Sony Playstation they found on a neighbours skip.
Doing voluntary work overseas for as long as it takes .......
My DD might make the odd post for me
  • I bet you will go to the next booty and find half a dozen each cheaper than the last ;) , always the way. What are you making? It sounds intriguing...

yeah, I probably will! I never find what I want if I'm looking! I'm hoping to make personalised cat and dog bean bag bed/cushions to sell on ebay! The bean bag beans are quite expensive to buy so hoped to save a few quid with boot sale ones! I made one last night, it looks good but they're quite big so the postage might be high. Anything to raise a bit of money, you know what it's like!
I have to stop myself buying mugs at the boot sales. I don't know why but they appeal to me - the cupboards are bulging with them!

Yes, I agree (and I'm not Scottish!). You see a lot of people at the booty with collectable stuff wanting lots of money, which people aren't prepared to pay for there, they'd be better off selling it at an antiques fair or ebay. I like 50p bargains myself!

I bought a gorgeous pair of 1970's boots for £5 and I saw almost the exact same pair in vintage style on a website for £140.:T
Not been here in years! Hi everyone. Make £10 a day challenge = £78.45/155
  • My best buy at a car booty was a pile of postcards! There were unusual-looking so I took a chance & bought a set of 40 for £15. Put them on eBay & they sold for £410!!! Turns out they were rare postcards printed by Watch Tower in the USA (Jehovah Witness) in the 1930's. So the message is, look at everything at a car booty!
  • My sister paid £2 for a bag of 4 dolls for her daughter at a car boot accross the road from her about 6 weeks ago. Got home and took them out to clean them and discovered a 'Tiny Tiny Tears' at the bottom of the bag, complete with outfit.
Sold on ebay for £102!!!!!!!!!! :T

People pay that for dolls? I would probably have just given it to my kid to play with not recognising it for what it was!!
