£81 is a good amount to make, well done! yes, as a buyer i like things that are priced as sometimes you're not in the mood to ask if you don't feel like haggling. I couldn't go yesterday as had to take (well drop off) the kids at Legoland (using Tesco vouchers of course!). I'm jealous of Dance in the dark's red throws, I'd like them!!
Baby and kids stuff is best to buy at the booty as some people hardly use stuff and you can get it in immaculate condition which is great as you don't use it for long so you may as well get it cheaper.0 -
I love car boot sale but never seem to actually see any cash from the stuff I sell because I love buying at them so much as well.
I normally spend at least 50% of what I get off my stall on bits and pieces that i want .:rotfl:
The stalls are quite dear as well with a lot of stuff selling b4 I am actually seeing a profit.
Car boot sales mostly finish at the end of this month some am hopeing to get a couple more in.:D0 -
Both me and my partner have got the Car Boot Bug at the moment. We went to 3 in 1 week. This weekend we bought:
Winter plants 6 in a tray for £1.00
4 really nice prints for the lounge £2
10 books for my niece £1
New purse for my niece with her name on 20p

Sainsbury's washer tablets £2 a box of 48
This was a huge car boot at Essington just off the M54 .
I just love having a rummage. Not bothered if I buy or not. Gets you out of the house for a few hours.0 -
We have a huge one in Southampton near the Tesco's at Bursleldon. In the summer it's too big to go to every stall and I give up after a few hours - well, when the kids are complaining too much and hubby can't carry anymore or I've run out of dosh!!0

you did well Essexgal! ours was a big one yesterday but I came away a bit disappointed. I did get a pair of really nice, modern, paintings for my daughter's newly decorated room for £4. Plus an eyore soft toy, as new, as a present for younger daughter to give at a friend's party for £1.50 (what a skinflint, but she loved it). Oh and 3 guiness book of records for 50p for a friend who's collecting them. and of course lots of out of date crisps for £1! But I'm really looking for bean bags to use the beans for a sewing project and couldn't see a single one, always the way!0

Unfortunately I also encountered an unpleasant nincompoop who objected to my browsing her stall without buying anything (apparently I've done this to her at previous sales too, though I didn't remember her) and accused me of trying to damage a watch in the hope that she'd sell me it cheaper!
Sorry to hear you met a Weird Woman- encounters with people like that put a downer on your day.
Glad you got bargains though:T :T0 -

I bet you will go to the next booty and find half a dozen each cheaper than the last, always the way. What are you making? It sounds intriguing...
I have a "thing" about curtains and have to stop myself from buying them, I look at them and think all that material for jsut a few quid just think of all the things I could make! Except I never get round to it.
My latest "treasures" from a small carboot held at my local hospital include
a blackboard with a folkart picture of a goose for the Kitchen (spotted one on ebay for £12 plus £3 post) - £2
Self Sufficency book 50p
fishing book for the DH 50p
and my number one treasure - a cookbook about recipes during the war an inspired purchase after reading a thread in the OS forum. -30p
