BA lounge dilemma

  • When we were in Australia visiting my son and his girlfriend, she had access to the Quantas lounge and could take my son in with her, so when we were in Brisbane airport waiting to fly to Cairns, they went in the lounge for a few minutes, and brought coffees etc out for me and my OH. I certainly didn't resent their going in without us. They would have been silly not to in my view.

The BA Galleries lounges at LHR are hardly something to write home about so I wouldn't say you're missing much.

I notice you say you have 2.5 hours before your flight, does this mean you are connecting at LHR? If so, and if it's from a UK destination, your colleague should have lounge access by virtue of his domestic flight (booked into J for connections to WT+).

I have been in the situation where work colleagues had access to the VA lounge at Heathrow and I didn't. They went in, I wandered around the airport. Didn't bother me. I couldn't see why they should lose out on a "Perk" just because I wasn't entitled to it. Besides which, I quite like doing my own thing so not being with them suited me just fine.

Got to ask, why should I pay? I haven't created this situation. I don't think BA lounges do paid access anyway
I don't care if you pay, your colleague pays or nobody pays. I was just throwing an alternative out there.

BA utilise many shared lounge facilities around the world. Some of them do allow paid entry. That said, I'd missed your reference to LHR.

I know, the lounge isn't great but the spa and showers are a handy perk, if slots are available.

I didn't know they could access the lounge with a domestic business UK ticket if flying onwards in WT+. I guess that does make this thread pointless, as previously suggested!!

I'd skip the lounges for the chairs and food/drink, no big deal, best chairs are always taken anyway, but I would check in there to use the toilets!

Seriously? I always try to go before entering the lounge since I find the toilets in the lounge are often filthy and/or smelly. Give me a good old urinal any day (does not apply if you're female of course).

surely if going at the weekend you won't arrive together anyway? unless you live together. So just arrange to meet at baggage claim at the other end.
  • In club you'll only get into the galleries lounge which has a shower, some free drink, some god awful food and then a desire to go back to the shops.
Also there is no Spa unless you know something I don't? Elemis Spa in T5 is only for first class and above or status holders of the right level (gold and above I think)

It's really nothing to write home about in galleries.

In May I have my first First experience with BA to NYC which gets us into the first class lounge and the Concorde room - now THAT I'm looking forward to :)

Have to admit I really like the chilli con carne :)

You can use the Elemis Spa in you're in Club World but you can't prebook an appointment.
  • I have to say I like their Thai curry!
