Thank for your important contribution so I bow down in front your subtle intellectual brilliance in addressing this, as I was just hoping they would come out to play. I'm housebound and over seventy so this pursuance in my twilight years was engaging me a bit but I now see the light.

scrap the talk talk email address and get one that is non ISP specific , gmail works for millions of people and indeed I use them , however I use GMX as my main address now , https://www.gmx.com/ you will need to download and install a email client , thunderbirtd or outlook work well

Thanks pappa golf, but I'm not sure GMX works on linux. I'm using a Evolution emailer at the moment so this little upset with the TT's email has been passing the time for me a bit as I don't get out.

gmx will work on any platform , however a suitable programme will be needed to open it. I suggested thunderbird , and that does work on Linux , perhaps evolution would work?

That's not the case TalkTalk Rep, as I messaged them over a week ago with no reply coming from them which prompted me to repost on there again yesterday. They have only responded in the past when you have contacted them. So unless you do so again I will still not be able to move forward. Also, this is the second time a stock reply like the above has appeared here which doesn't bode well, as they didn't reply until I pressed you about it again .

One would have thought that TalkTalk representatives on here would be able to answer my questions to sort out your technical problems affecting me, instead of advising us to get answers one step removed, unlike the other phone companies on here whose reps give technical answers when they mess up, and in my case your email system crashed or was hacked and I'm still trying to figure out when TalkTalk will admit it has a duty of care to my concerns in this matter considering TalkTalk lost lots of my emails.

OP, can you log in to your TT webmail account? If so, the problem would appear to be with your own set up possibly.
Don't expect any ISP such as TT to offer you any meaningful tech support on an email client running on a Linux OS, it's Windows or nothing, and even then they're probably limited to Outlook Express or Windows Mail.
