Afternoon everyone. Lots of love and hugs to those who need them, esp Mumof2. You have done everything you possibly could. It is time to cut yourself some slack....
Morning spent at hospital. Picc line successfully inserted. Not too bad a procedure, really. Apparently I am a tough cookie!
Back for first of new chemo tomorrow. Due to on going tiredness I have taken the decision not to have the cold cap treatment which tries to prevent hair loss. It adds 2 hours to the treatment. And as it may not work anyway I will take my chances with the wig department. To be honest my hair is not my favourite feature by a long way. I am hoping it comes back curly and a different colour!
The downside of this morning was I showed a positive result for ovarian cancer on the blood test. I am not at all surprised, and in many ways relieved. It explains why my cancer has spread to the areas it has. And the nurse said not to worry - there is every chance the chemo will nuke it.
So it's fingers crossed for tomorrow. Everyone tells me that my next round of treatment should be substantially easier than the last. I just have to hope that it's true.
Hopefully I will be able to post tomorrow afternoon...:jFlylady and proud of it:j0 -
CY.. I knew someone lost her hair through chemo.. Brown, dull and straight as a pin.. When it grew back it was totally grey.. The beautiful silver grey not the dirty colour, and curly as a sheep it was stunning!!! It's only hair!! I've always wanted to shave mind entirely but I'm not brave! Glad today went well, hopefully the chemical will and you will feel well for the wedding!!
Dyeing.. 4 on the line, 4 on the table, 10 soaking and 2 to rinse!! .. Busy busyLB moment 10/06 Debt Free date 6/6/14Hope to be debt free until the day I dieMortgage-free Wannabee (05/08/30)6/6/14 £72,454.65 (5.65% int.)08/12/2023 £33602.00 (4.81% int.)0 -
GWS vibes to Mr DizzyImp.
Mumof2 sweetie, you have worked and worked so hard to hold you and J together; it's time to step back and take stock, and decide what's best for you now. Fwiw, "staying together for the sake of the kids" is not all it's cracked up to be - says she who spent most of her childhood praying that her parents would divorce as home life was so awful with both of them to contend with. Coping vibes for you. x
CY I've decided that if the lupus hair loss gets any worse, I'm going to get the most outrageous coloured wigs I can lay my hands on.:D In the meantime, I use hats and scarves in various guises to try and look a bit less mangy.:D Sending nuking vibes - lets zap them rogue cells, ok? x
Millie's gone home now; and I've Dys0ned up two cylinders full of Millie-hairs. I've also defrosted the freezer, so between those two tasks, my back is complaining big-time. It'll just have to complain - I have to visit @ldi when Mr LW gets in - I have a list as long as my arm! :eek:If your dog thinks you're the best, don't seek a second opinion.;)0 -
Mumof2 do what is best you you and the children
Cy hugs x

Hiya CY - glad you had a successful morning and you're sounding so positive atm.
I hope it goes as well as poss the morrow and, as you say, hair loss is the least of your worries. I think you made a good choice re the cap and shortening the time of treatment.
Fingers xd the bl**dy stuff gets nuked and stays nuked this time
Sorry to hear about your back-ache LW and may be you can ease it with a hot water bottle for a little while. Bet you looking forward to your next guest already
Right - just decluttered some fruit and a cuppa so it's back to finish the kitchen now. Should only take about 20 minutes more including the floor

In the meantime, I've got Tuesday and Wednesday to get the place shipshape, as Mr LW is working from home Thursday, in order to take me for a steroid injection in my left wrist.:oIf your dog thinks you're the best, don't seek a second opinion.;)0 -
CY sorry you got that news but well done on having such a positive attitude to it, that is the key to a great recovery. Having a good fighting spirit.bumped into an lovely lady I was on the governing body of the high school with when I last took mil to the hospital, I didn't recognise her, her mid brown Bob had been replaced with a gorgeous curly silver grey pixie style, she looked amazing and was absolutely radiating health and positivity. For a while things had not looked good but she dug in her heels and told us all this was a fight she would win.
If you want to go down the hat route I'm sure between me and pigpen we can keep you in knitted goods, there are some really nice chemo hat patterns on tinterweb. I've got loads of spare wool so the offer is there if you want. X
Been off list today,
Instead of flying I've finished the quoting part of the quilt and machined the binding on three edges, I've got to handset that round to finish those off then I can put the final binding on the bottom edge and I'm done.SPC~12 ot 124
