Do you get double points on items that are giving extra clubcard points at the moment? For instance the organic frozen range has 50 points extra. If paid on the card do you get extra 50 or 100?

Do you get double the points for example if you use the 1000 extra points for £75 spend code?
I started off with nothing and I've still got most of it left.

When i worked there in the past you got double points on the total shop ie £10 = 20 points then the bonus points only went on once sadly. So with a bonus 50 points you would get 70 points

could one the people who worked for tesco and had one of these tell me how it works when you have a "priveledgecard" (sp?)?

I dont qualify for my priveledgecard card yet and wont get it for another 6 months.. so until then Clubcard Plus will be handy but after that.. when i use my discount card i wont be able to get the double points will i?

Because from what i understand the discount card acts like your normal clubcard too to collect the points but you get the staff discount. So by using that i will revert to normal clubcard £1 = 1 point?

Now thats an interesting one johanne! Not sure. The priveledgecard has its own clubcard number, so you will earn 1 point per pound on that. I would then say you will also earn 1 point per pound on your Clubard+ so you still get 2 points per pound. Then again you may get 1 point per pound on priveledgecard, and 2 points per pound on Clubcard+ = 3 points per pound!! I doubt it though.

The way round would be swipe Clubcard+ BEFORE Priveledgecard at the till. therefore Clubcard+ will be used as the points card, and when the bill is totalled swipe priveledgecard for the discount only. Think you can do that.

May be worth asking about it though - then again what are the chances of anyone being able to give you an answer?!

Interesting point nontheless. I go shopping with my mum. My Priveledge card gets swiped, so points on that. Then she pays with Tesco Masercard. So do we get 1 point on Priveledgecard, plus 1.5 on Mastercard, or just 1 on Priveledgecard and 0.5 on Mastercard? Mind boggling!
  • Brilliant thread - thanks. Have called Tesco and applied for a clubcard plus - the number you need to get through to someone first time is 0800 505555 and they will send you out a form.
With my petrol, weekly groceries, and internet orders for my son and my mum I will be living in points city!

    Thanks again everyone

I may have got the wrong end of the stick but does this mean you have to pay a months shopping up front? I think i would struggle doing that.

hmmm .... i usually put all my shopping on my credit card and pay for it in full around 6 weeks later (earning cashback from the card).

just a thought - could you maybe put one or two weeks worth of shopping on this card upfront, and for the rest of the time just use your normal clubcard? they don't cancel your ordinary card/key fob do they?

I suppose you could have a dd for one or two weeks worth of shopping and then top the card up at the CS desk when you went in with how much you'd budgeted to spend next week. Then it would be on your card for sure on your next visit and it would help with budgeting, knowing you have to stick to a limit. Plus if you managed to get a few coupons taken each time that would mean that you could either spend more next time or not have to top up so much. Just an idea

that's an idea. i've slipped into the habit of spending on my credit card now, they take it all by direct debit - if i actually paid up front for my shopping i think i'd go overdrawn, it's a bad habit to be in but it works for me lol!
