  • I know, good old t'internet, what would we do without it? I cannot remember how life was before t'internet to be honest.

Sounds like you've settled well. Had a hilarious incident yesterday, kids had the kareoke machine out in the front room, and we putting fake southern accents on and taking the mick out of how the kids talk here! Me and DH rolled about laughing, they must be getting some stick at school about their broad lancashire accents!

  • Hi Mortgage Mamma

It is a nice part of the world - I had family in Litlington just along the coast and I remember a nice walk across the valley to Alfriston. There was also a tea gardens in Litlington that was good in the summer. Dursilla's Zoo is near Alfriston somewhere!! It has won the top spot for small zoos for several years.

I do agree that traffic can be a pain - you will have to learn the back ways before the summer influx of tourists. It the same in Lincolnshire - another county with no motorways to take the through traffic.

Ohhh just remembered that Willimington is a good day out - used to be able to walk up the long man and there is a priory somewhere nearby.

  • yeah drucillas

not actually been there yet. we are waiting for the better weather, but we did go to a place called paradise park in newhaven which was really good in november. There is a nature trail, some life like dinosaurs, crysals and minerals and the story of how the world began (which really confuses catholic kids lol) - and then there is a minitature model place within it of all the important historic buildings in east sussex. Unfortunately we were with friends who are a bit thick, they found the whole thing "frightfully boring" and rushed us around, so we intend to go back in the summer and do it properly.

It looks a bit naff at first as its within a garden centre, but you really should give it a try

    AND

I cannot wait to get a ferry to Dieppe from Newhaven in the summer, never been to france!

  • Lol, MM, can just imagine all the micky-taking! My cousin's other half is from Yorkshire, so there's a bit of banter goes on there too....

Drusilla's is good (haven't been for years though) but not the cheapest place in the world.... As for beaches, St Mary's Bay is nice too, instead of turning down towards Camber you head along the coast a little bit further & it's the village immediately before Dymchurch. There is a car park (pay&display), a toilet block & a tea chalet - everything you could want for a day at the beach with small children! Mine used to love it - we would leave here about 8am & be there by 9am. You've also got Howletts & Port Lympne zoos near there too.

Tea gardens are at Litlington, I like it there - jolly civilised, what-ho, lol!! Opposite the Plough & Harrow pub which I gather does good food. And there is a little pathway down to the river behind the pub somewhere just along there.

I'm sure you will find loads to do in the summer. But I agree - one of the most exhilarating things you can do is go to the beach on a wild & windy day! Not sure I'm brave enough to go in the water though!!

We have Dominos just up the road (at Langney Shopping Centre) though I usually go for Famous Moes :) So will give it a try!

Look forward to meeting one day perhaps - and welcome to the area Bananakinz too!! :)

  • Famous Moes in Eastbourne Squiggly? is it any good?

I have mortgaged a couple of houses in Langley through the E.A;s I work at. I've taken the kids on the seafront at Langley point as its good for cycling with the flat walkway

thanks for the tips on St. Mary;s - I'm sure we found this by accident at the end of October when we were looking for Camber Sands - we didnt stay though.

I am SO SO SO looking forward to summer lol, hope fully we can all meet up for a cuppa at some point (have you tried the cafe on the edge of the cliff at birling gap, wicked, its like you walk into a time walk lol)

All the other MSE'rs reading this will be wondering whats so special about this county, but its bloody marvellous!

P.S. When I asked the sales manager where I could do my shopping, they suggested that I drive to Brighton.
