you have every chance of winning and not paying by following the advice on here

but the second line of attack is these landowner complaints , but it would help if you had the receipt or had paid by card (like contactless card) or can get the store manager to do as they asked

these obstacles are put in your way deliberately , which is why in future keep all paper receipts (contractual evidence) for several months or more , even pay and display tickets on car parks, like asda etc, my wife does since she had a scare once on an asda car park, they litter the pc she uses daily

Its got me abit worried now, Lesson well and truly learnt. dont just look at the banner that Aldi but up..... check the other signs too.....

or just avoid Aldi and PE all together (which is sounding like the most likely option!)

Thank you for all your help

You will not lose at POPLA stage so no need to panic. We hope you followed the script and only showed yourself as 'registered keeper' on the dropdown menu on the PE appeal page. If so then you are part of the way there.

You will need our help at POPLA stage because it's not as easy as first stage.

In fact getting your receipt rom the store IS worth doing and submitting to Aldi because in a store where there is a hidden 'terminal' (usually in a dark corner by a window, not near tills) there is NO MINIMUM SPEND.
PRIVATE 'PCN'? DON'T PAY BUT DON'T IGNORE IT (except N.Ireland).

Yes I followed it exactly and only put myself as the registered keeper. I will let you know when I get to POPLA stage :)

    Thank you

  • I've just had a thought...... What if someone parked on a PE car park with Aldi for example.... that was for '2 hours free' but then didnt buy anything? If they were there to take an important phone call for example and were there for, I dunno, half an hour..... they'd end up getting charged and having to pay wouldnt they? ridiculous

Nope, they can still win at POPLA with help of forums like this and pepipoo. Because winning at POPLA is nothing to do with a receipt.

But yes, they'd get a PCN.

Do they really??? So for a transaction of less than a fiver I've got no chance??

Am I going to end up having to pay this? :(

No you're not. With our help you will avoid this - stick with us and work to the script we provide/advise.
In order to appeal the parking charge you would need to provide proof of purchase in either a bank statement or a receipt. If you paid cash, the Store Manager may be able to reprint a copy of your receipt if you can provide them with enough information to do so. i.e Approximate amount spent, anything that you purchased that day. If you take the parking charge into the store with you, this will give them a rough idea of what time you went through the checkout.

Why the hell a genuine customer has to jump through these unnecessary hoops to satisfy some jumped up regulation is beyond reason.

Frankly I'd tell them to stick it where the sun don't shine, you won't be doing their bidding, you will be winning this via POPLA (with help from friends on a friendly car parking forum who will be looking after you with no conditions - a service that Aldi should be providing, without question, for any customer) and as a result of which you will now be going to Lidl/Tesco/Asda/Sainsburys/Morrisons instead of Aldi. Aldi's loss, because of PE's attack on their customers, is one of their competitor's gains - great business model!
Please note, we are not a legal advice forum. I personally don't get involved in critiquing court case Defences/Witness Statements, so unable to help on that front. Please don't ask. .

I provide only my personal opinion, it is not a legal opinion, it is simply a personal one. I am not a lawyer.
