I hate people who say "cheer up" "give us a smile"
One man made my life a misery every single day at work for over 10 years, every single time we crossed paths he would say "cheer up"
My husband does this regularly, usually when I am in the middle of something that does not require me to have a big Cheshire Cat grin on my face, so telling me to "crack a smile/cheer up" only results in putting me in a bad mood...which I was not in, in the first place!!

I'd had over 20 years of practice, if I hadn't gained the ability to draw by then what made my tutors think that would suddenly change!?
At school, when learning new sports skills, we were told 'practice makes permanent'. If you continually practice something, but in the incorrect way, you're never going to be perfect at it...obvious really! Maybe the tutors should have taught you better or in a different way.
I'm with you on the drawing by the way, cant do it properly to save my life!0 -

Get - as in "Can I get a coffee?" rather than "Can I have a coffee?"
Essential - as applied by advertisers to some ephemeral fashion accessory. "Essential" is the food, water & basic living standards not enjoyed by the majority of humanity.
"Would of ..." instead of "Would have ..." - One advantage of studying a foreign language is that you acquire a grasp of grammar and how language is constructed.
I could go on ... but I won't|

I don't think it's a new trend as I can remember forty odd years ago at primary school not understanding why some people said "Haitch"I Would Rather Climb A Mountain Than Crawl Into A Hole

Thinking outside the box. URGH!
I remember one meeting (when I was an engineer in a previous life) where we were asked to think 'outside the box.'
I began to wonder how big is this box? Where is it kept? How do I know if any ideas I might have would be inside and which would be outside? What is the box made of and how strong does it have to be to hold all these ideas? Why don't we imagine an infinitely large box and then all and any ideas can considered relevant.
When asked for my input to the project I replied, 'Sorry, I wasn't thinking outside the box or even inside it. I was just thinking about the box.'I don't like morning people. Or mornings. Or people.0
