Something that annoys me; not necessarily a saying or phrase, but what annoys me is when people only say something when they have something negative to say.

Like at work, you can do 10 things right, and nothing is said, but when you do ONE thing wrong, an issue will be made of it.

And on FB, I post pics of things (like everyone on there does; ) the area I live, my pets, my kids, my friends, me and DH, and also some pics of my fave celebs. This one girl (a friend of my cousin who I have met half a dozen times,) has never responded or 'liked' anything. However when I was talking about an actress I like the other day, I got her age wrong (typo; I put 45 instead of 55,) and this person posted ONLY to say 'she isn't 45, she's 55!'

So out of all the 70-odd posts I have made this year, she has never said anything, but saw fit to speak up to correct me on something!

Also, another thing people say that gets my back up that happens occasionally...(This is an example...)

When I am out, I get someone barging up to me and saying 'HOW'S YER AUNTIE JANET?!'

!!!!!!? They don't say 'how are you?' ' How is your hubby?' 'How are the kids?' 'Going away anywhere this year?' 'You're looking well... ' Nothing. Just asking me how someone in the extended family who I see 5 times a year is!

Also, I see this one woman in the pub occasionally, (Pat,) and me and my hubby have been out to the pub with her and her hubby several times. Well this one woman come up to me the other day and said 'HOW'S PAT?!'

    Again, !!!!!!?

I feel like saying 'if you want to know how she is, go and ask her! You know where she lives!' In fact, this one woman who came up into my face the other week and said 'How's yer auntie Janet?' only lives a mile from her! I live 16 miles away! If she wants to know how she is, just knock on the door and ask! Or phone her!

So annoying. I just say 'I don't know, I haven't seen her for a while... maybe pop in and see her on the way home?!' Then they just mutter something inaudible and say 'see yer then...'

    Eejits!

One of my bugbears is the phrase "while you're on your feet..."

Translation: "I can't be !!!!!d moving. You are my servant. Fetch!"
"I love deadlines. I love the whooshing noise they make as they go by."

I hate could of, would of, should of instead of would have, should have and could have.
We have breakfast, lunch and tea. We only call it tea if it's eaten between 5 and 6. If we eat later or go out to eat in the evening, it's referred to as dinner or evening meal.
I hate bro and bab. I particularly hate kids calling me bro or bab.

Someone saying borrow instead of lend.
if someone says can you borrow me ....... I say no, but I can lend you...............
  • When did people start calling charity shops "chazzas"? I've only ever read it on MSE where a couple of people use it.

In the same theme, when people refer to supermarkets as Mr T, Mr A or Aldee, sainsbobs etc. If you're talking about a glitch that might get uncovered if it happens to get searched for then fine I guess, but in normal conversation, why??
