< I don't like to see zebra being eaten by lions, hyena etc but at the end of the day they are part of the food chain as are birds to cats. Domestic cats are still 'hunters' at heart. Get over it:mad:>
We don't keep lions and hyenas as pets.
<'are you letting it roam around the neighbourhood at all hours' what the hell is meant by that????????? How can you control where a cat goes??????? What an idiot!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!       >
I'm not an idiot. If you are going to keep a pet you should take complete resopnsibility for it.
<fill open space with plants, small stakes, bricks or anything and the problem is solved>
Not really when, as I say, you have half an acre or so. Not really a solution when the cats are digging up the plants as you put them down.
<Obviously too hard for some of the morons posting here:mad: >
Clearly so - it is now quite evident that I have learnt nothing in twenty years of gardening - and I'm only grateful we have the benefit of these boards so that a kind hearted, intelligent person like yourself can provide me with such useful and constructive feedback.
Thankyou..........Explain to me how you control a cat from venturing into people's gardens? You cannot keep a cat locked up in the house for the night.........it's called cruelty. You can put bells etc on their collars to try and stop them catching wildlife but in my experience that doesn't always work. You really are a narrow minded biggot.Friendship is like peeing on yourself: everyone can see it, but only you get the warm feeling that it brings

Hi All,
I have been doing all kinds of research on the best way to repel cats from doing there 'thing' in your borders and grass.
Sonic repellants dont work, they are unfriendly to dogs and also humans, yes you can hear them!
Gels and other sticks etc simply wash away and can be expensive.
So here is my tip...... TEA BAGS!!!!
Spray them with Deep Heat, Ralgex or similar and dig them just under the soil.
Or you can spray it on sticks and put them in the ground where you need them.
You can also spray fences and gates.
You can also use Jeyes Fluid and mothballs can do the trick too!
Some people are selling this info on auction sites for £2.99, I am willing to share the love!!!!
Hope this helps all garden lovers out there!

Er... shouldn't there be an option on the poll for your suggestions working or being helpful? All you have as options are 'heard it all before', 'not at all', and 'doesn't work' ! This makes no sense at all to me....
Or maybe it's because it's a Wednesday.... Durr.....

Hi
Jeyes fluid is very toxic to all animals -please don't use it and cats won't eat mothballs, but birds do and it kills them.0 -
I'm a newbie and wasn't sure about the poll thingy, my apologies!
This is my 1st attempt!0 -
That's okay, I thought it made no sense because I am feeling rather ditsy today - it's comforting to know that it might not be just me!
And I hate cats in the garden too!!0 -
I used to have the same problem with cats, until I got the ultimate in cat repellant
No more Cat problem's:A:dance:1+1+1=1:dance::A

There has been a lot of discussion on this board about cat problems. Be aware that you need a very thick skin posting on cat deterrents - the cat loving forum members can be a bit scary! After my last excursion into a similar thread I decided 'never again' when the 'be nice' rule seemed to go out the window (Duh, what am I doing here then!)!
Anyway, I'll say just one thing. If any of the above works you didn't really have much of a problem with cats in the first place!

PS Is that a Staffie? I have a regular Staffie visitor to my garden who thinks cat chasing is way beneath his dignity so is no use whatsoever!0 -
Please help! I am so fed up shovelling cat turds into plastic bags. Ever since I bought my new house, I've been contending with the local moggies. Since cat poo can carry many nasty bugs that are transferable to humans, I'd like to stop this problem once and for all. I don't want to hurt the cats, just deter them.
So far, I bought an ultrasonic cat deterrant, which worked for the first few months. But now the cats have either found the edges of its operational area, or they have become immune to the noise. I've also tried putting out jam jars filled with water (they're supposed to look disturbing to cats - don't ask me why!) mulching with woody hedge trimmings, scattering rocks in my borders and having various items staked into the ground. The cats are finding ways around these deterrants. I've also tried human hair and lemon peel, but these only work for a matter of days and I don't really want to be scattering these things in my garden every two days!
So I'd like to know if anyone has a tried and tested, cost-effective, long-lasting eco-friendly solution to my problem!0
