New Scottish Power Tariff

Surprise!
They just launched an April 2017 v2
In this area, electricity exactly the same, and gas goes down by about £16 a year.
Still the exit fees, but still not a problem.0 -
Hehe - I was about to make a post on the same subject then saw someone had done a thread revival.
In my area:
April 2017: 2.262 pence Per KWH
April 2017 v2: 2.252 pence per KWH
Which gives me a £2 differance over the year!
Let the good times roll!0 -
Just when i was happy enough to leave my switch alone up pops SP new tariff. Like redux elect the same but gas down. My last bill had 3 different tariff's on it, had to spend a little time making sure it was right. Here i go again.0

£31 per year more for me on a £276 per year annual spend on gas. Look at separate suppliers. This is a system account and does not represent a real person. To contact the Forum Team email forumteam@moneysavingexpert.com0

Help Beat Cancer January 2018 online 2.819p
April 2017 2.395p
April 2017v2 2.270p
I am giving in. Just switched to v2.
I am getting a Plug-In Hybrid car, so I was actually contemplating switching for a low electricity unit rate, like the MSE British Gas Collective switch.
The £5,000 subsidy for plug-in cars dropped from £5,000 to £2,500 end of February. So, grabbed one before the dead line.
I think you can charge for free at the right locations, so may not need the home electricity to be cheap after all.0 -
Why the emphasis on gas rates and not electricity? Electricity costs much more per KWh, so this thread has a long way to go to convince anyone what is the best price...0

Every time i change the DD goes up but as soon as i put in a meter reading it is recalculated as it takes into account if i have a credit and what my last bill was. As i have just done my monthly reading i will wait till next one to reduce my DD myself online. Did you get the option to reduce as i have had, if not go on DD manager and imput meter readings it should give you the option. It has reduced it every time and as we are heading into summer i have gone as low as £25 for both a month and my credit £0. You can keep a eye on your DD with SP.0 -

You have a point, but on the other hand there tends to be less movement in electricity prices, so any changes in dual supplier costs are going to be mainly gas based.
Finding the best prices can be done using comparison sites, and indeed that's how I discovered the version 2 of this, as mentioned above.
And then there are significant differences between supply areas even from the same company, so people should make sure they enter details for somewhere in their area even if they don't want to give their exact postcode for privacy reasons.
And after all that, Scottish Power actually is the cheapest supplier where I live, and has been for 8 or 10 years.
Sorry if it's not for you in your supply area, but for people in this one and perhaps 5 or 6 others, and who knows maybe more from time to time, it definitely is worth keeping an eye out for new Scottish Power tariffs, and tipping each other off, hence this and previous threads.0 -
To makeyourdaddyproud
As per above, the electric portion of the april 2017 v2 tariff stayed the same as the april 2017 tariff (for my area).
Just to clarify, this post is not aimed to encourage people to switch to this tariff. Always do your own comparison.
This post was just to alert those people who are with scottish power that a new tariff has come out.
Those keeping a keen eye on scottish power tariffs have been tariff hopping every month on to a new and usually cheaper tariff. They have been a bit erratic in their releases lately so posts on here help make those who are interested aware.
In my area, for most of last year the electric cost (pence per KWH) of SP tariffs actually went up! But as I am a high gas user, the newer and cheaper gas prices have benifited me more. Hence why it is always best to do your own comparison.0
